Just read on the news wire here that the all white throwbacks will be worn on week 2 against the Pats. I have to say it was refreshing to read that as I instantly recalled seeing those all muddied up at the Orange Bowl and began to reminisce. I sure miss them days!
Sorry that was probably not worth starting a new thread over, but the football boredom since the draft has been completely drab...This news inspired me to become awakened after reading about that. I really don't like the new logo at all, especially now that we've had nothing but bozos for coaches since the new unis came out. I wish the throwbacks were permanent.
Ah yes, off-season football boredom...At least "Game Of Thrones" has kept me amused I wish I could have started a thread about that - Way more interesting!

Of course it's worthy of its own thread, in the off season especially! I'm not one to make a big deal about uniforms but hey it's the off season. Plus the all white unis were the glory days.
Now the orange ones...are just silly but they really don't bother me.

If the Dolphins allowed their fans to vote on their website to permanently bring back the old logo/unis I'm guessing we'd go back. That would be in a perfect world but we're sure far from that.

I have this idea that the throwback unis are being used again this year to guage how the majority of fans feel about them. I think that we will see the team wear them as often as the league allows us to. On this board, its clear that most of us are solidly for reinstating them, but there are plenty of other fans that need to be heard from. I strongly suspect that the throwbacks will become the standard unis next year, when a major change in our fortunes is expected. It seems that very few fans are against the change, and the ones I have talked to are as much for the change as we are.
The problem, Rick, is that the league has this strange rule that a team cannot change their uniforms until after a five-year request from the owner. That is my understanding of the rule. Not sure why the NFL has the rule, but...
I did know that such a rule existed, but I wasn't aware of how long the rule specified, and I'm not sure how long its been since the last change. I think the change limit time is getting close.

The team hasn't requested a change, as far as I know. Maybe they have, but I'm sure it would have leaked (or announced) that the change has been requested. So, if it hasn't....we will be waiting for a long time.

As is the norm, league rules are long and sometimes complicated.
Briefly, After five years of wearing the present uniform, teams must notify the league by March 1st, that they wish to change uniforms. By July 1st, color and logo must be presented. By August 1st, initial uniform samples must be created and approved by the club. By November 1st, final uniform samples must be provided to the league for TV testing.By December 1st, league gives final approval.
My personal opinion; if Miami goes back to its original uniforms, it shouldn't be much of a problem to get it approved.

I believe I have read where much of the changes from the "original" uniforms were of Ross' doing, and he has, at present, no interest in permanently changing the uniform, especially the logo.
I completely agree. I hope Ross gets the message that many Dolphins' fans, maybe most, want the team to go back to the "throwback" unis and the old logo. I refuse to wear anything with the "pussyfish" logo on it, and, from what I see around SoFla, apparently many people feel the same way. I see lots of Dolphins' logos in many forms, but they are mostly the old logo. Somebody is making a fortune marketing the old logo, but since it isn't the Dolphins' official logo anymore, I don't think it is the Dolphins. That should tell Ross something.

I'm no expert on such things, but I'd imagine that the Phins still hold the rights to the old logo. In anyone else "marketing" the old logo is either doing so with permission/licensing agreement, or is bootlegging plain and simple. If they're making a fortune from bootlegging, then Ross is too clueless to police and enforce his own trademark. But he's a wealthy businessman, so I'd be surprised if that was the case.
What's more, I just now clicked on the official dolphins' site "shop" link and easily found t shirts with the old logo on them. Not even throwback jerseys, but t shirts in the "summer" section (I wish I still had my old aqua Csonka one).
When these "new" unis came out I read somewhere (probably on the news-wire here) that Marino provided input to the new design. So if that were the case instead of resisting the change then for the 1st time ever ya let me down Dan!

Sam, we not only see many Dolphins fans with the old logo, but if you remember, Gase constantly wore the old logo, whether it be his shirt or hat.
As far as Ross goes; the only thing I can see where Ross will change the logo is when it comes to making a lot of money switching back to the old logo.
Updating a logo is one thing. Changing it completely to a lame ass limp dick is just unconscionable . It has a power. Makes the players play like a limp dick.
