"You were right numberone...you were right. The PATS and the 'BOYS had the same thoughts too. numberonedumbanddumber- you are a genius"Wow, another sterling prediction by the poster child for the dangers of illiteracy. So, let me get this straight. Essentially, the Dolphins traded Jason Taylor for Jason Taylor and Pat White and saved 7 million dollars. Now, I am not the greatest talent evaluator, but that sounds like a good deal to me."
In a way, the Dolphin's version of the Alonzo Mourning scenario. In that case there was no trade, but Mourning DID play for another team for 1.5 years, then came and re-signed with the heat for the vet minimum. He still had a lot left in the tank and gave the Heat the best Center tandem in the league!!! He was also a huge factor in their championship run.
With the depth we now have at OLB, we could have a not-so-long-ago-pro-bowler playing as a reserve (or a specialist) on our defense!!
It is being reported by Armondo that JT will not start but will play as a specialist on passing downs...20-25 snaps a game. Sporano's thinking on this was because of his age and how he could be most effective.
If this is the case, wouldn't it be wise to do the same with Porter? He is only two years younger than Taylor and is not a good player in run support.
There is no way that all of our current OLB's will get much playing time much less make the roster.
WOLB Porter, Taylor, Anderson, Wake
SOLB Roth, Moses, Walden, George
1. I would think Porter has another couple of productive years, but having the platoon effect will extend life of all involved.
2. The mismatch to me for Porter is his cap cost. That I think will have to go down unless his production remains high ... thus I think it will work its way out.
3. I really like Wake and expect things from him, some of the others will go. We do have defense needs other than 3rd down though, last year we did well on all but 3rd down.
Competition is a beautiful thing. I think you are right about an assessment of Porter is coming however. hope he rises to the challenge, but his production vs. cap cost will come into view.

I think Anderson's days are numbered. I really don't know about Walden and George either. I see us keeping Porter, JT, Roth, Wake and, maybe, Moses as our OLBs. Anderson was a passing-down specialist last year, but he isn't even in the same zip code as JT.
The question is who plays better special team. Anderson or moses. With the addition of JT and if cameron wake is as good as they say he is , i doubt either anderson or moses will see much playing time. Unless its special teams.
I have no idea about moses.
Anderson had a couple of key holding penalties on special teams. One of them negated a Ginn TD return. sorry i was so annoyed that day i cannot forget that.
On the other hand anderson is probably the better LB.
I do not remember seen moses on the field last year. Was he even a part of this team?
