I like the move if JT comes back with his head on straight and has the desire and same drive he had when he won DMVP. This move could have really made our defense top notch. If he is the guy that played for the Deadskins last year, then its a so-so move.

I am willing to bet he had to prove his worth to Bill.

I guess it was a good deal for us......we rented JT for a year and got Pat White out of the deal.

Does this imply that Cameron Wake was not very impressive at minicamp?

Holy friggin crap! This is awesome!

Guys...Don't worry about JT's level of play or committment. He is a smart guy and surely learned a lot from the situation last year. He now has a something to prove in his final bid for the HOF. If anyone needs a top 10 list of why JT's play has not declined...just let me know. lol.

I dont think so. I just think the Trifecta love pass rushers.

Also Noetic, I think Wake can learn *ALOT* from JT. Maybe that is a small reason for his resigning as well.

1 year, 1.1 million dollar deal for JT.

The front office made it very clear that they would wait to see what they got out of free agency and the draft before acting on Jason Taylor. Obviously they evaluated the talent and felt they still needed Taylor, so I'm willing to bet there were a couple players who failed to impress.

My big question is how do they utilize JP and JT at the same time?

Putting JT on the strong side is a waste.

Porter did not play real well on the strong side (5.5 sacks in 07) but his sack production that year is not too far from his average (8.3 sacks per year but 6.5 spy if you take away the 17.5 sack year which was an anomaly) JP has 3/10 seasons with over 10 sacks.

JT averages 10 sacks per year (6/12 season over 10 sacks).

One thing having both players adds to our defense is disguising which side is which....If they alternate ends.

The other pro is that teams will not be able to double team both players and Ferguson. This should result in more plays from everyone around them. Merling and Langford....

No matter how hey do it, we just got a whole lot better and picked up another 6-8 sacks. (Take away Roth's 5 and add JT's 10-12)

...and don't give me any nonsense about loss of ability. smiling smiley

I wonder if he gets any incentives based on sack totals or playing time.

I think his incentives are only good for another 400k. He gave up 7 million dollars to come here. Anyone still think his heart isn't in the right place?

Strange that many people think of him as a LB now, I think he goes back to the position he knows best. DE.

Taylor and Porter both coming from the weak side, Wilson is going to have to play smart.

projected basic defensive set 2009

LE K.Langford
NT J.Fergunson
RE J.Taylor

SLB M.Roth
LILB C.Crowder
MLB A.Ayodele
WLB J.Porter

SCB V.Davis
SS Y.Bell
FS G.Wilson
WCB J.Allen

My dream scenario....

Base Formation....

SDE Langford
NT Fergy
WDE Merling

SOLB Jason Taylor (alternate with Joey)
SILB Matt Roth (drop weight...6'4 260)
WILB Channing Crowder (lineman are now even more tied up freeing him up)
WOLB Joey Porter (no more double and triple teams)

Passing downs....

SDE Langford
DT Starks
WDE Taylor

SOLB Wake
Nickle LB Crowder
WOLB Porter

Taylor will not move to full time DE. He is no where near big enough. he may play there on passing downs though

He's the kiss of death. The ONE year (in recent years) he was gone, we actually won something.

He is now saying he wants to play 3 more years. He's already trying to get a long-term extension and he's only been back for a few hours.

This guy is tough to stomach

Give me a break. Now you want to blame our losses on the best player we have had since Marino retired? We were 6-10 in JT's MVP season but I guess Nick Saban had nothing to do with that. Remember our great draft when we reached for Jason Allen in the first round.

The only thing that caused the demise of the Dolphins was crappy drafting and personnel decisions year after year....PERIOD.

Just because he may have said...to his friends that he is reinvigorated to play 3 more years doesn't mean he is doing it for the money. He gave up/lost 7 million dollars to play in Miami.

Joey Porter was the biggest advocate there was to bringing Taylor back. Surely, if he can get on board, you can too.

We were a good team yesterday, we're a better team today. JT can only help us!!!!! Welcome back Taylor. This guy has a chip on his shoulder coming back to Miami, he'll make it happen just watch and enjoy the sack show featuring Porter, Wake and Taylor!!!!! I love it....

If Wake impresses, the scenarios are endless. We could see JT, Porter, and/or Wake swap at either OLB position. Roth can shift between SOLB and SILB. Crowder can move between WILB and SILB. This will be interesting, and it, at least, improves our weakest position (Lcool smiley.

FINALY NOW CAN YOU SAY IT AND SAY IT LOUD!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST, 2009 MIAMI DOLPHINS ARE WHAT? SUPERBOWL, WAIT FOR IT now CAMPIONS!!!! god im creaming my panties!!

"You were right numberone...you were right. The PATS and the 'BOYS had the same thoughts too. numberonedumbanddumber- you are a genius"Wow, another sterling prediction by the poster child for the dangers of illiteracy. So, let me get this straight. Essentially, the Dolphins traded Jason Taylor for Jason Taylor and Pat White and saved 7 million dollars. Now, I am not the greatest talent evaluator, but that sounds like a good deal to me."

this from the article on Yahoo! NFL

“Jason told me, `Tell the Dolphins whatever fits their budget, I’m ready to play,”’ Wichard said. “There were no negotiations. It was always going to be Miami.”

Say what you will about his past actions or agent posturing, but this is absolutely the right thing to say. How fantastic is this!? Like another poster said, we rented him for one year to the Skins for 2 picks.

I have a better one....willford and a second.......LOL

Camarillo coming out of injury isnt worth much seriously IMO.
And a second wont be enough.

Who are they going to double JT or Porter????

I saw porter tripled teamed last year at times when other teams gameplanned for him...Other teams better deside because one of them is going to break havoc in the backfield. Gonna be fun....smileys with beer

Ethan Skolnick (who broke the story today) just said on the radio that its a cap friendly deal and Miami can easily cut him during training camp if he has nothing left (which some think) or if he turns into a diva again and it won't hurt the salary cap. Also he said the front office doesn't expect Taylor to be an every-down player and will be used as a situational player at this moment in time. Of course injuries could change things.
