I just saw landshark for sale in my local grocery store in DC--I was gonna get it just for curiosity sake, but then I figured no, I'd just be playing into their hands with that stupid stadium naming deal!!

off topic question--I grew up in Miami but haven't been back in years and I know the city has really changed--however I am going down to South Beach memorial day weekend--any recommendations for cool places to go out? Bars, clubs, restaurants...Doesn't have to be So Be, can be anywhere in tha MIA...

smileys with beerA little fun talking about beer. But what else can Dolfans talk about now. Come on training camp!!hot smiley

A little story: The Boulder Brewery is a good one. We sold a boiler to them years ago. Well one evening, about 5:30pm I get a call that the boiler is down. So I shoot up to Boulder and fix it. While there, the brew master asked if I liked beer. You know what I said.
He took me upstairs to try some of his new brew.
After the 4th small glass he was ready to pour another. "hey wait a minute, I have to drive back." "Okay, take a six pack of short pours with you". A short pour is a bottle that was not filled up all the way.
Found out then that they make some really good beers.
They have a program where you buy a mug with a your own saying on it and when you go to their bar you use your own mug. They then give a discount. Ours says' "Killam, The Boiler Men".smileys with beer
Cheers

No not at all...there are plenty of americans that do know better. If your personal taste in beers runs toward the entry level products like Bud, or any light beer, etc. then more power to you!

But there is so much more to beer than simply drinking one to get a buzz, or to get drunk or for image or whatever.

Beer is exactly like wine or good scotch. It should be savored and relished. Good beers are so enjoyable on so many levels such as sight, smell, initial bite, overall taste and finish. Truly exceptional beers will change your perception of what good is...that is if you care at all.

Try a Samuel Adams Utopias...or their Chocolate Bock if you can find either and are willing to pay for the privilage...just don't choke when you see the price of the Utopias. The Chocolate Bock is a realitive bargain at $18.00 a bottle and it's worth every single penny.

JMO's your taste and mileage may vary.

I just can't get into favored beers. If I want something besides traditional beer taste I'll drink something besides beer.

Budweiser is the best beer in the world.

Montequi:

I assume you meant flavored beers.

In that regard the Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is not really what most people would consider flavored. It does have a subtile chocolate flavor but is mostly smotth, creamy, full bodied, robust bock beer.

Youngs chocolate stout is water from a cess pool by comaprisson...for anyone that has tried it. JMO.

Ahh, Smokebier from Bamberg Germany. Very unique to say the least. When they say smoke bier they mean it!

ok i just popped the top...

let me first comment on the aroma ---- seems familiar

first 2 sips ---- its nice and light tasting, quences the thirst

I like the bottle design and the saying 'FINS UP' and its brewed here in FLA.

At $7.49 for the 6-pack at Publix, I'm comparing it to similar priced lagers. IMO it is definately Corona-like and could take a lime wedge for added tropical flavor.

I am ranking on a scale as such

1= Natural Light ------3BUDWEISER------ 5=Sam Adams Oct Fest

LANDSHARK LAGER earns a 3.8

thumbs upthumbs up

Coors makes a micro Brew call "Winter Fest". They make it only in the fall for the Christmas season. It's a little different every year. Excellent beer.

Has anyone ever had "Highlander"? It's made in Holland. When I was in Germany most bars or Gaust Hauses had it. Haven't ever seen it in the states. One of the best beers I have ever had.

I forgot about Olympia. Is Goebel still around? We used to drink it as teenagers on a fallen tree in the woods. You've never seen so many empty cans of one beer in one place. We referred to the site as the Goebel God.

Olympia might have been the worst beer I have ever had. So watered down it tasted flat. A close second would be Black Label or Red White and Blue.

Some other old timer beers....

Falstaff
Stagg
Blatz
Hamms
Lowenbrau
Pabst Blue Ribbon

These are what the old timers drank at the VFW and American Legion where my old man hung out. WWII and Korea vets

I still have to grab a Pabst every once in a while. Must be a flashback from when I used to sneak my Dad's. Gotta be in a glass with a little salt....beware the next morning!

I used to buy my coffee at Starbucks, but these days I've gotten more efficient and just flush $5 a day down the toilet directly.
