Things I now know....

1. Gase is without a doubt the worst play caller I've ever seen. He makes Philbin look like Don Coryell.

2. We now know that Jordan Phillips was a 2nd round bust. We also now know that Devante Parker is a 1st round bust. Today also proves that Charles Harris is a 1st round bust. Three high draft picks wasted.

3. Although I can't blame the refs for this loss, the officiating was pathetic. Several flags which allowed Cincinnati to extend drives were ridiculous.

4. Ryan Tannehill has had more than ample opportunity to show what he has. It isn't good enough. Yes, he literally has no help whatsoever, but he is a turn over machine. 14 points directly attributable to his inability to hang onto the football. This team isn't anywhere near good enough to give away 14 points.

5. This won't get better until there is a complete clean house. Gase, Tannenbaum, and Grier need to be fired. Period. I don't care what happens the rest of the season, this needs to be done and I won't be happy unless and until it does.

6. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, Landry, Suh, Pouncey, and/or Ajayi would've have helped today. I know we couldn't have kept them all but getting rid of all of them also wasn't necessary.By the way, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Drake doing pretty much what Gase criticized Ajayi for. Looking for a home run when the play dictates to take what you can. Isn't that the real reason Gore is playing more snaps? I guess we can expect Drake to be traded to Philly soon?

Well, the Dolphins have ruined yet another Sunday for me and likely the entire season. So, from the bottom of my heart, to Gase, Tannenbaum, and Grier, I say, go screw yourselves and another big screw you to Ross. I'm out.

Ken is right.(he usually is.)It's only the fifth game of the season, and anything can still happen. We're just in a bad period, which we and most every other team have every year. With certain reservations, I think Gase will become an excellent coach. If he learns from his mistakes, which he does seem to.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but what can you point to that evidences Gase learning from his mistakes?

Totally agree Colonel. The reality is that Gase hasn't shown me anything but stubbornness and an inability to admit when he's wrong. His play calling is absolutely mediocre but he'll blame injuries for why they choked away a 17 point lead. Did injuries factor in, of course, but I still go back to the play that started the collapse. Frank Gore runs twice for 9 yards. Third and one, and Bengals are reeling. Inexplicably, they opt for a low percentage deep pass to Stills which is incomplete. Three and out and the collapse is underway. Gase will continue to pound that square peg into the round hole regardless of the fact that it isn't ever going to fit. I knew this was going to be a disastrous year but I let myself get sucked in by 3-0. No more. I have no expectations for this collection of misfits. Nothing short of mass firings will ever get me to pin my hopes on this team going forward.

ChyrenB,

Totally agree. Tannenbaum, Grier, and Gase all need to go. None of them are competent in their jobs and nothing changes until they're all gone. If you're right that Ross is too moronic to see what Tannenbaum has done to his billion dollar plus investment, then we're screwed. I won't, however, go to one game or spend one dollar while Tannenbaum is in charge. That means nothing to Ross, but it means a lot to me. I'm about a 3 1/2 hour drive away from the stadium so I can't go to every home game, but it was my practice to go to 2 or 3 of them. Not any more. Not until Ross proves to me that he's serious about putting a competitive product on the field. That isn't happening while a boob like Tannenbaum is calling the shots.

The turnstile of coaches since Shula speaks volumes. What we had with Shula was something truly special, not just at HC but the assistants were darn good too. We also had a smart owner...in contrast to the ownership of today.

In MLB when a starting pitcher doesn't have his stuff working, he may get shelled and the game gets ugly fast if the manager keeps him in too long. The manager has to be smart and move to the bull pen for a pitcher that can get the outs. Keeping a NFL head coach in too long shows itself when the team fails to perform, game after game, season after season. While the comparison isn't exactly the same, the premise is the same on when somebody needs to be replaced. Coach Gase is quickly reaching the "pull and replace" point with his head coaching career.

Gase is only one part of the problem. The front office is certainly at the "pull and replace" point and have been for a year or more. Ross however, our brilliant billionaire owner, is at the very foundation of the problem. He fails to hire the best people to run his football company and appears incapable of firing them when things fail miserably each season.

As to who would be a great fit to replace all the dead wood? That's the challenge and appears to be akin to finding the Holy Grail.winking smiley

RE: Can’t judge a RB without blocking. As far as Gase goes, I’m of the opinion that you have to give a coach a minimum of five seasons. If you replace one sooner than that the insuing turnover from top to bottom is too great and only serves to set you back even more seasons. Teams that do this every couple of seasons are ALWAYS at the bottom of the league. I don’t think we are.

About yesterdays game its all very easy to understand . We have no qb....We were dominating the game throughout 3 quarters..

Then the wet firecracker gave the game away in the 4th.

Give tom brady a 17 point lead at halftime will ya? And see what happens.

Frank Gore has the same blocking that Drake has. My point is that Gase did a knee jerk decision trading away Ajayi for basically nothing and now the heir apparent is being outplayed by a 35 year old running back. That doesn't strike you as odd? Plus, Gase stated he was upset that Ajayi was looking for the home run and wouldn't follow the play where it was designed to go. Sure as hell looks like what Drake's been doing. I think one of the announcers actually said as much.

As far as your five year grace period, this year is gone. You may say that it's still early but the kind of choke job we saw yesterday doesn't just go away. Therefore we'll be in the fourth year of Gase's tenure next year with two sub-.500 years, one wild card berth, no playoff wins, and huge holes in this roster. The offensive line literally has no depth when you consider that the depth is Swanson, Larsen, and Young. Young and Larsen were here last year and they stunk to high heaven. What did Gase think would happen if someone got hurt. They were suddenly going to become decent? Depth is acquired mostly through the draft. What offensive lineman has Grier drafted that can step in and take over at guard, center, or tackle? Ken you're too smart not to see the incompetence that's in charge of this team. I want them to compete for a championship as much or more than anyone, but I'm not going to be blind to the fact that what's happening in Miami will not get us there. No how. No way.

Not trying to be Debbie downer.... but if you look at the 3 wins so far they are basically because of turnovers. We were out gained by miles in two of the three. That is not a receipt for a winning team. You cannot count on turnovers at crucial times to win games. Our team needs lots of components to become relevant in the playoff picture, the injuries are not helping either.

Gase, in his presser, claims that the collapse started when Tunsil went down. Bullfarb. Even the broadcast team, to a man, agreed that the 3rd down incomplete pass was the actual beginning. Gase just CAN'T admit that one of his play calls destroyed the continuity of his offense.

RE: True but they are also very different backs...we need them both. I also thought that way about Ajayi, didn't like the trade but I do understand why they did it. They brought in Gore to their credit and now it's mostly a moot point.

RE: No not at all...that's why Gore was brought in. The staff realized that they needed a power back.

RE: True and maybe that's why Gore has been getting more playing time in the running game.

RE: Well it is still early and I see evidence that suggests the team is getting better...growing more heart and playing as a unit. They are not all the way there yet but there is evidence nonetheless.

RE: This is THE issue surrounding our offense but obviously it's not one that's easy to fix since we have not had a coach since Danny that was able to get it done adequately.

RE: Everybody here wants that. But we have to deal with things that maybe we can't control...with the roster we have we need to focus on OL, DT, DE (eventual replacement for Wake) and add a CB. In that order. Without losing any skill players.

If we can protect our QB whomever that is, and block effectively in the running game we can be an elite team with this roster. We have to limit injuries though, a thing we have not been able to do since before Philbin got here.

I agree Ken. We are as good as our Oline at this point.
