This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
because of that ive been blessed to enjoy a professional sports team, without having the where you live bias, so this is wierd but my fav teams, for baseball lol ? toronto blue jays, what can i say i loved the old uniforms, football NO brainer, the dolphins, college FB, the gators, college basketball, TARheels, pro basketball, the BULLS, hocky, the ducks, used to be the sharks before the ducks came.and thats about that i hate soccer? so. but if i had to pick a soccer team, then manchester united ;p whats your teams?
NFL - Dolphins
MLB - Red Sox
NBA - I don't follow the NBA anymore. I used to be a Lakers fan.
NHL - Not really interested. Maybe the Canadians, because they are my aging Dad's favorite team.
Dodgers- I played on a little league team called the Dodgers when the Dodgers and Yankees were in the World Series. The first year the Yankees and Reggie won. We got them back the next year. Since the '94 strike, I haven't watched an inning of baseball.
Duke basketball- really started as a UVa fan during the Sampson era. Hated UNC and watched Duke as underdogs upset UNC to make UVA#1. I have followed Duke ever since. As a basketball coach, I have attended Duke practices and reviewed game film with Coach K. I have been a pretty big BC fan the last 4 years since I used to coach Tyrese Rice in high school.
Virginia Football- My big brother attended UVA when I was little.
Chicago Bulls (haven't watched since Jordan retired)
Chicago Cubs (too depressing...usually watch in playoffs...Marlins suck!
Chicago Bears (fav NFC team) da 85 Bears....happy when Marino kicked their butt though....18-1!
Fighting Illini (University if Illinois)...Vontae Davis, Rashard Mendenhall, Kelvin Hayden, Neil Rackers, Kevin Hardy, Simeon Rice, Ken Dilger, Jeff George, Dick Butkus, Ray Nitschke.
and my favorite is the one that is out of place among these teams...go figure.
PF-2....your Dad was a Jets fan? Talk about rebelling! lol. My kid used to be a packers fan when we lived in the tri-state area (wis, il, ia) but was broken of that and now roots for the Dolphins. Didn't want to sleep outside I guess?
You can tell it's the offseason when two of the hottest threads are NOT really about the dolphins, but I admit this is fun. Even if bending the rules about topics, we're all playing nice so far (plus another mod is posting too--haha), so here goes.
Football: Dolphins fan since 1971, I was a wee lad, and I cried when the stinking Cowboys beat is in SB VI. Still hate them, and hated when Jimmy and his Johnson came over to the Dolphins and screwed up a winning tradition (yeah, I said it )
Baseball: Watched it sparingly growing up in Miami (there was no pro team yet). Went to a few Baltimore Orioles spring training games in the old Bobby Maduro stadium near downtown--but never got all the way into it. Everyone else liked the Yankees it seemed. So naturally I liked the Red Sox, their biggest rival. My National league team was the Reds, not because of Pete Rose with his gambling and bad haircuts, but because of Joe Morgan and his twitchy elbow. Never really enjoyed or appreciated baseball until I moved to Boston. Wow, it's a real sport after all!
Basketball: My favorite team was the Floridians from the ABA after that, I wasn't too attached to basketball because there was no local team at the time. I used to like the Lakers in the early 70s because of Chamberlain, which meant I *hated* Kareem Abdul Jabbar (he was on the Bucks at the time). When the Lakers got Kareem, they lost me as a fan and I started rooting for the Celtics.
Hockey: never followed it. I appreciate the sport itself, but I never grew up playing it (florida!) and I don't care to watch it except for the Olympics (1980 was awesome) and maybe the stanley cup final.

I guess you might could put it that way. Most people are UNC tarheel basketball fans but not football. I was just making my point that I am a tarheel fan of both sports, not just the one they are great at....like most people.
And no, Im not a Cavalier fan, I dont really have a #1 team, I used to love the Charlotte Hornets until they moved to New Orleans. So now, I just love watching Lebron James play.
