Looks like the Fins have decided on Cutler. He has signed a one-year, $10M contract.

Ummm....quite a hefty contract for a guy no one wanted during the off season and may or may not be the starter.

From what I believe I read, he also has incentives in that contract.

He may or may not be the answer, but we shall see what happens.

I read this as RT is going to have surgery on that knee.

I hope Cutler has a sensational season at QB. Nothing but best wishes for him.

Only issue is getting ramped up mentally after "retiring" to the broadcast booth. Getting in physical shape takes less time than switching gears mentally. Having a good complement of players around him, especially to pass to, may speed up the mental process. thumbs up

I don't have a problem signing Cutler, esp since he's played for Gase before.

I DO have a problem with how much $ they spent on him. $10 million? jeez. that should have been spent on locking up some other positions for the future.

They didn't give him 10mm to compete with moore.

This guy is a lifeless slug. This looks like a panic move.

Cutler, traditional pocket QB. Just what they tried so hard to make Tanny into. But I bet Moore beats him out for the starting position.

Moore absolutely has to be the starter in the short term...you don't simply hand a starting job to Cutler as it would set a very bad precedent and send the wrong message to the rest of the team. A message Gase has tried very hard to ensure gets across...work hard, do your job well, improve and you will get to play.

I don't see Gase throwing all of that work away and thereby the season one player.

More to the point of bringing in Cutler is that everyone knows Moore will not be good enough over a full season and that we will need three QB's as either Doughty or Fales will likely be cut.

I agree Moore is the starter. We did the best we could in this situation and we had to pay to do it. IMHO

Regarding David Fales I caught several games (TV) of his junior year at San Jose St. Wasn't focusing on the qb position but on that corner Benewikere we had in last year. I heard he was good. I was impressed with Fales guy had a quick release like, Marino. He really reminded me of Marino how he got the ball out of his hands. Caught more games the next year and size and arm strength really was all he was lacking. Unfortunately arm strength counts a lot.

Check out some youtube on Fales at San Jose St, let me know what you think.

I have full confidence in GASE. If he thinks Moore is a better QB then so be it. We were lucky to sign a decent Vet so early in the Pre season. I think its going to go to the wire on whos starting. GASE will make the final decision and not for a LONG time I'm finally comfortable with that.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I'm cautiously optimistic that we could have another Chad Pennington season of our Oline holds up and Ayjai has another 1000 season. Lots of wishes there I know.....but im just not feeling negative about the current situation. We have a lot of good receivers and I have confidence in GASE.

Read where Gase has said that Cutler did not go to Miami to be on the sideline.

Read into it what one may.

You forgot to say chad pennington with 98 percent better arm.

If he can be as accurate as pennington look out.

But cutler struggled everywhere he has been. I dont see where he is going to come in and be the dolphins saviour.

Yeah, he struggled but he's also never had as good a supporting cast either. His job for us will be easier in the sense that he won't have to do as much to be successful.

True. But for some reason I don't have this negative feeling in my gut about him. I'm going to the game tonight .....see how the scrubs do.

I dont have a negative feeling about him either. I was just going by his history. he strugled a lot.

Just hoping for the best.

I wish matt moore would play so well and stay healthy that he would last the entire season as the starter.

But in the back of my mind i see cutler going in for a struggling matt moore by the 4th or 5th game.

It will all depend if the OL holds up and gives him time in the pocket.

Cutler is kind of the complete opposite of Pennington. Pennington had a noodle arm by the time he got here, so he had to make good decisions and be extremely accurate with his throws because they were so vulnerable to being intercepted. Cutler, on the other hand, has got a cannon arm that he thinks can get him out of trouble if he throws poor, inaccurate passes (which he frequently has) or makes bad decisions (which he also frequently has). Hopefully, Gase can again guide him to make better decisions.

On another note, does anybody know whether Cutler is a good ball handler like wizard Steve DeBerg was and Dan Marino wasn't?

Rick
