What does everyone think about about trading Pennington for a second round pick? Start Henning and use White as a backup and reciever.

Not a chance. He's too valuable as a teacher, and he's our rock at QB. Consider besides him we'll likely have a 2nd year player and a rookie at #2 and #3. We NEED Pennington this coming season.

We almost have the perfect situation at QB right now. the only way it could be better is if we knew we had a young franchise QB like Manning or Brees. Henne could be that guy but no one knows yet.

As it stands right now, We have a quality, proven starter who will be even better in his second year with more than 2 weeks to get ready.

We have the QB of the future in Henne who is waiting to take over.

And we have a 3rd string QB who offers multiple dimensions and who many believe could be a starting QB someday.

Why ruin that situation? We know what we have in Penni and have a plan in place for Henne to step in....Don't forget about the value he brings to the team as a mentor. Sporano said that Henne has improved so much more just by having him to learn from.

I think we will all see that in preseason when Henne takes the field.

Look at the situation in GB...how much do you think Aaron Rodgers learned from Brett Favre? He sure did pretty well in his first year starting after sitting and learning from a quality veteran.

If everyone on this dolphins OL stays healthy, then pennington will have as good a year as anybody in the NFL. He is got new weapons now.

Tell you what....I will trade him for a first rounder plus a couple of second round picks on next year draft. Nothing less.

Pat White for a 2nd

We can just trade our whole team away, sit out this year and come back in the 2010 draft with 22 draft picks and have an AllStar college team to compete next year.

The entire mock draft next year will be all Miami Dolphins for selections 1-22.

Who is Henning? and NO I think this is a really, really dumb idea. The Tuna is behind Pennington all the way, as he drafted him originally in NY.

No but every other day someone wants to trade Ricky or Ronnie or Chad or our new draft picks or Jason Allen or Ted Ginn or Chad Henne...mostly to get a 29 year old WR with hip problems that wants 8-10 mil per year.

I believe the NFL put in a rule specifically prohibiting coach-for-draft-pick trades a year or two after the Gruden deal happened.

Jeff Ireland explicitly stated that everyone is available for the right price. And I guarantee that any QB who throws for 4000 yards will garner serious interest from all but a few NFL franchises.

I'm sure Cleveland and SF would love to have Chad P. right about now.

I agree with PhinsFan2. Like I predicted at the end of last season, September will see Henne start as our no. 1 QB. Some of you are looking at Pennington with heavily painted ROSE-COLORED glasses. The man had many deficiencies, most of all being unable to throw the long ball with any accuracy. You can be grateful for him being a competent caretaker but he's toast at the end of preseason.

Exatcly Phinsfan2..............If i cannot get a first and two seconds for him then there is no trade.

BTW i bet pennington goes to the lions and starts over the rookie this year.

Are we playing for 2009 or 2010?

If we are playing to win it all in 2009 then why aren't we going after JT?

If we are thinking that 2010 is our year then why not trade Pennington for a 2nd and 4th if we can get it? He will be a FA after 2009 anyway. Also, it seems unlikely to expect to win it all in 2010 with a first year starter in Henne. If we are really thinking 2010 is our year with Henne as the starter then why not give him a year of playing time in 2009?

Dumb thought.

Many a 1st rounder is spent trying to get a proven starter.

Pennington has several years left as a starter and as a mentor, and will be both teacher and backup when he hands the reins over.

I think the team will excel over the simple reason they will begin to get synergy as a playing unit in his second year. he is also a calm and cool leader.

No a second rounder is not a good swap.

I don't think that Pennington will want to be a backup in 2010. Why wouldn't he try to sign a contract with a team that would give him an opportunity to start?

Didn't suggest 2010. I think he'll play several more years as a starter and maybe more if the team excels with him at the helm.

If we break loose with a need and demonstration of better QB performance with down field passes requiring more arm ... so be it, but I think Pennington has the accuracy and poise to outweight the few cases that a bigger arm might be needed.

BTW he can chunk it when he needs to.
