The move to Las Vegas was almost unanimously approved by the owners, with the only nay vote coming from Stephen Ross. Does anyone have any info as to why Ross was the only dissenting vote in this issue?
I read where he said that teams owed it to the fans to try to exhaust every avenue to keep the teams in the cities that had supported them. He didn't believe that everything that could be done had been done to keep the Raiders in Oakland.
I'm a bit surprised that the NFL allowed it. In the past there was a bit stink about locating any professional sports franchise at such a mecca of gambling. But I suppose that the proliferation of other casinos outside of Nevada and closer to existing NFL teams made the LV argument obsolete.
I'm curious to see whether an area with such a transient population as LV will support an NFL franchise. Time will tell.
