This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
The way the AFC East is playing, Miami pretty much now has no shot at the playoffs.
So, our Fins have now ruined our hopes for a playoff spot and also screwed their chance for a good draft choice. Miami will be drafting either in the middle of the pack or worse.
Hopefully, the FO gets lucky and gets an All Pro in his first year.
Two (2) wins away from a winning season. That in itself shows improvement of some kind or luck that we played better than some really hapless teams. When was the last time we managed 9 wins? Hmmm? I was a much younger guy when that happened.
It sure seems that the focus for next season must be toward building a terrific defensive unit with backups who are very capable players.
At this point (7-5), we have a better record than what we thought would be a dismal year with a new rookie coach at the helm. We have to remember that assessment. Watching the Jets last night on MNF--they are a mess. We are better off than they are by far (that's a good thing) despite our pathetic showing and whipping by the Ravens last Sunday.
IM satisfied w/ the 2016 Phins. They have fight. A six game win streak, I enjoyed that ride. Teams that we should have beat, yeah but in the past we would have lost half of those games. Good qb play, an improved running game, hope for the future? When was the last time the Phins offered us that?
We still have some important holes to fill in 2017 but I think this team is on the rise!

Yeah...too bad you (and a lot of others) can't focus on the good.
And too bad you're more concerned with next year's draft than this year's actual games.
Not picking on you Sam, because a lot of people feel the same way you do. I just don't agree, and frankly don't understand that point of view.
JC, an old Oklahoma US Senator in the 1960's who my sister babysat for named Fred Harris came from a farming family in Southwestern Oklahoma who called themselves the "hay-baling Harrises" and he used to give this excuse for our dear home state accepting so much federal funding.
When responding to the criticism that Oklahoma received so much federal aid, he used to say, "if you can't be first, then be first in line."
Translation here, "If you can't get in the playoffs, you want the highest draft position you can get."

I understand that logic in general (even if I still don't agree with it). But I don't think the "If you can't get in the playoffs" applies to us at this point. Before our winning streak started I'd have thought that was the case but with four games to go we can still get a wildcard spot. Odds are probably less than 50-50 but to paraphrase Dumb and Dumber...I'm saying there's a chance!
Even if we tanked and went for draft position, I don't think that'd satisfy the draftniks. This is because people who are so preoccupied with the draft, also second guess the picks that are made anyway. They'd be PO'ed at the team all over again on draft day for making (in their mind) the wrong picks.

God your ignorant. Go back to the draft of Tannehill. A Top notch QB? Wheres have the Colts gone with Andrew Luck? How has RGIII panned out?
We got a GREAT QB in that draft. Healthy , extremely athletic , he just needed a better coach. Look at what GASE has done in just 1 season. Why you constantly have to be negative and blame Tannehill I think is more of a stubbornness and an inability for you to just admit you are wrong.
Except for the Cowboys Prescott I haven't even seen 1 QB since that I even like.
Look at all the 1st round QB's that have failed. Russell Wilson wasn't a 1st rounder. And we have a Top flight QB we just need to get some depth and hit the defense in the next draft.
