Yesterday (Sunday afternoon) I was involved with a Cub Scout ceremony that was honoring military veterans. In addition, the Cub Scout pack retired a couple of hundred American flags that had faded out or were tattered and torn from use.

All but a couple of dozen flags had been previous folded into triangles. Those flags that were not ready for retirement were folded with a veteran on the stripes end and a cub scout holding the flag securely on the stars end. 13 folds and the meaning of each fold was read aloud to onlookers. When all the flags were folded one cub scout after another marched up to a veteran presented the flag and with respect and dignity was placed into the blazing wood fire by the veteran, for retirement. It was a learning experience for the boys, attending parents and grand parents.

It was truly amazing to see what reverence these little boys displayed marching with folded flag in their arms. For me it was heartwarming and greatly appreciated. Burning each Old Glory in this manner is the proper way to retirement it. Lots of parents were moved by the ceremony and many teary eyes were noticed. It was a great day. What can I say.

Thats awesome Colonel. Thank you for sharing. This country was really spiraling out of control. No respect for others. For veterans, or Law Enforcement. Our leaders were teaching the youth to question all authority be disrespectful and shut down and eliminate all you disagree with. I've never seen such disrespect from kids and the youth who have no idea what 1 day of work even is.

Its good to know people are still out their upholding traditions and honoring whats right and sacred. God Bless and thank you for your service. thumbs up

GO DOLPHINS!!!!
