I didn't know we had a 4th QB. Wish Doughty could have played more series. He's not as comfortable handing off the ball, but he can definitely throw it. He seems like a great leader on the field.

Doesn't have a starting caliber arm.

I know nobody wants to read that, but it's truth.

A "starting caliber arm"?
Like Jamarcus Russell, Jeff George or, maybe Daunte Culpepper?
Nah, I'll take cerebral and 10 to 20 yard completions in favor of some muscle head that throws nothing but 60 yard hail Marys.

Has a good arm to be a starting qb in this league.

Make him do some weights this kid is only about 20 years old. His arm is still developing.

He looked better and more poised than the other 3 qbs the phins put out out there yesterday.

Doughty is the complete opposite of matt moore when it comes to been calm in the pocket.

It looks like matt moore is about to run for his life every single time he is out there. He even walks scared.

Its been a while. We are due hitting a homerun with a rookie qb.

Doughty might be it.

Also about tannehill....tannehill doesnt have the ability when things break down to scramble and make things happen.....You have to be born with that ability...

Yesterday i saw tannehill just like last year....A DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS.....Inside the pocket and when there is noone open he just waits till he gets sacked......He didnt get sacked yesterday but you know what i mean.

Clueless...

Example of something different....

You saw daughty making plays and hitting receivers who were open...

Doughty is the type of qb who knows what he wants to do with the ball..ALL the time...Tannehill is clueless sometimes.

Daughty just learned the plays about a week ago and already looks more poised than tannehill ever did.

Yes he was playing against second and third stringers but so what.....

You can see the ability is there..

2nd and third stringers are still college stars....

I think Gase was spot on. He makes completions, but his reads are not always right.

This tells me that he processes info quickly and has the understanding of the offense, is accurate, so even when there are 2-3 options, he makes timely completions even tho his reads are not the best.

The most promising thing was that Doughty looked comfortable, natural, in the flow, in rhythm, from the get go. That's big for the initial eval.

All that goes to the theme of his game, Doughty is jut a natural at that level.

Now, when you add up that his arm strength is not top notch which may make him hesitate or pull back on some throws, and that he is undersized so balls will be batted down more frequently, and that he is still struggling with reads, you get a more complete picture.

His arm strength surpasses Chad Pennington...who won 11 games for us in one season and took us to our last playoff appearance. No, he's not Marino or Favre, but Montana didn't possess the strongest arm, and look where it got him!

He's 6'2". That's NOT small. With most QBs it's not how tall they are but how high their delivery is. Bernie Kosar (who was 6'5"winking smiley used to get balls batted down because his delivery was low. Doug Flutie (who was 5'10"winking smiley found ways of making completions because his delivery was high. I believe Doughty can adjust. He just hasn't played against such tall DL's in college.

He WILL improve in his read. He has the brain for it. He just needs the reps and time.

Uh...I just watched my recorded replay of the game, and I thought Brad Doughty looked average at best.
He's no Dak Prescott.

First pre-season game is not going to show much.
Still, I thought Doughty showed more poise than either of the veterans.
Poise is a good start.

I haven't watched Prescott, but for a rookie playing in his first game Doughty looked WAY ABOVE average. He looked fantastic! Unfortunately, they only gave him a couple series to show what he could do.

Before he's anointed the next savior after 1 preseason game against camp bodies you guys may want to get his name right.

It's Brandon Doughty

I saw nothing special about Doughty vs the Giants.

Only one player did anything at all, and that was Grant.

As someone on this board said earlier, the game was very sloppy.

LOL Right? They are sizing him up for a Yellow Jacket already. Pukes fresh out of college trying to make the team for the Giants. Thats who he was playing against. Relax.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

No, no qb controversy yet. The job is Tannehill's to lose.
There's no pressure on Gase this season. It's his honeymoon.
Next season he's the one to decide if he wants to hitch his wagon to Tanny or go in another direction.
Hall of Fame jokes aside, Doughty is just someone to keep an eye on.
We don't have much else to cheer about.
The highlights of the (previously unbeaten) Marshall game shows that Doughty is the kind of QB that can carry a team with 8 TDs to win the game. That's potential worth keeping an eye on.

lol^

We are hanging on to a QB who has no winning seasons yet, instead of drafting QBs like mad and opening the starting spot to competition.
