Interesting info on Hartline

Hartline is a big lanky guy who doesn't have blistering downfield speed with his 4.5ish 40 times.

BUT

In the 3-cone drill he was the 2nd fastest WR at the combine, and in the 20 yard shuttle he was the 4th fastest and in the 60yard shuttle he was 1st.

So we have a big target with great hands who has great change of direction speed....who is a sophmore.

Not saying he is a starter next year...but give him a couple seasons in the NFL to develop his technique, and put on another 10 lbs and we have a 6'3" big possesion WR. Could be a great #2 down the road.

I just don't get it. Now we have a roster full of average WR's and one burner.

I starting to think that Camarillo isn't recovering as well as we thought and Brandon London isn't that good.

Hartline is a special teams guy. Nothing more. Nothing less. We have had HORRIBLE special teams for years now. This is that special teams guy.

Here's the thing. IN a traditional offence, you have a drop back QB who can sit back and throw accurate strikes to open guys. And you find WR's who can beat double teams and lock down guys.

The Trifecta has invested money in our OL, and we have solid RB's.

If you have a GREAT Running game, and you spread the formation out, teams have to bring the safeties up and now you have a lot more man coverage.

We have Ginn, Bess, Camarillo, London, and Wilford who have NFL experience, but none of them were that consistent #1 threat. Ginn is going to have a better season on his own development, as will Bess. Camarillo ??? Wilford???? London???

Now you bring Patrick Turner and Brian Hartline to push everyone for a roster spot let alone a starting spot.

There was a run on WR's in the 1st round. I am ure hat there were guys we wanted who got taken. Some just before our turn. BUT, how much do you give up to trade up?

We were 10th in passing in the league. We may have lacked a 'star' WR, but we produced better than teams that had one.

Parcells isn't an offensive guru, but he has had success at bringing in a bunch of guys and turning up he heat, and finding someone that others over looked.

I like the potential that we are bringing in.

Here's another way of looking at it. Although we lacked a true #1, we had some very good #2 and #3 WR's, which one sucked? Where is the glaring hole? Once the 'top' bets to be #1 WR's were gone, you have no choice but to pick guys who can be a #2 and have upside.

While I agree that he will likely be on special teams in the short run, I think your 'nothing more' is a big over-statement.

not sure if you were just using a figure of speech? Bt I think they took him in the 4th because they think he can be developed to be a contributor.

No doubt he will contribute on ST, but I think in a year or two, he could be a red zone specialist.

Hartline was just interviewed on QAM. It's funny how he paused and took a deep breath when they asked him how he would contribute as a receiver. He seemed more proud of himself on special teams, which is understandable. Doesn't seem like an overconfident guy, but he did say he doesn't like to lose and will compete on the field.

He's looking forward to seeing Ted Ginn, since they played on the same team.

I think Hartline is better than Austin Collie who was taken a few spots after Hartline by the Colts, and he will contribute for them this year just like Hartline will contribute for the Dolphins this year. Stop the nit picking Hartline is Anthony Gonzalez except Gonzalez was a 1st round pick and Hartline was a 4th round pick. I think Hartline will suprise alot of pepole in the NFL he is Greg Camarillo except he is bigger and has more athleticism. Bottom line He is going to be a very good receiver in this leauge leave the kid alone. He will be a very good player for the Miami Doilphins. I don't really know what some of you guys want from the draft some of the posts on this web site just amaze me. Oh yeah thats right all of you complainers know more about football than Bill Parcells how stupid of me to forget all of the GM's on this board.

I think I have only seen a couple of WR's with better hands than Gadsden and one was Chris Carter...

Stunner you are absolutely cracking me up. You had me at "Look I mean what do you want serious?" By far, you have been the most entertaining on this board.

&&& remember how poor our special teams were last season coverning kicks? The guy is a very good special teams player and will help immediately in that area. We have a bunch of small quick guys and Turner and Hartline bring some much needed size to the team.Immediate upgrade in the Red zone, you won't see Chad lobbing passes to Ginn in the back of the endzone this season. Turner has 9' hands and 33inch arms. If he can do What Orande Gadsen did for us I don't think anyone will be disappointed. &&&
