In my opinion we already have a our power back in Jay Ajayi... While he is not 6'3... He runs like a power back and is hard to bring down...

I love Jay Ajayi. Shows lots of promise if we get a improved Oline. At 6" 228 I agree he is not a light weight. He is our every down RB capable of breaking it. But I think a Huge FB type runner on 3rd and short would help Ajayi stay fresh and a bigger back who help block on Play action type plays.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Well, one problem Joe is that Philbin under-played Ajayi. Just like everything in Joe's "It took me 23 assistant jobs to make the head position so why should I elevate any rookies" mentality, I liked what I saw but I saw far less than I would have liked but instead I saw him using a scat back like Lamar Miller as if Lamar were Larry Csonka instead of tossing the ball out to Lamar when he had space thus utilizing Lamar's fantastic elusive abilities.

Problem is that Under Philbin the Oline was never addressed. If your QB is getting sacked 4-5 times a game , chances are your ground game will suck also.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You can have the best OLine in football...

If tannehill holds on to the ball for 6 seconds and doesnt try to make something happen, he will get sacked.

Ajayi missed the first 6 games while on IRR with a broken rib. Of course he was behind the 8 ball.

Philbin underused our #1 RB so of course our #2 is underutilized.

Sam, this is getting old.

Your one-liners put everything on RT.

Not gonna argue that at times, RT does hold the ball too long, but the majority of the time, there are other factors involved.

Based on your theory, if a QB is getting hit as often as RT does, wouldn't it be common sense that the QB would be throwing the ball much earlier than he should, just to get rid of it?

It is argued he just doesn't have the pocket awareness, but it could also be said that he is waiting for his receivers to get open.

Anyway, RT is not the main problem of the Miami Dolphins.

Sorry, Chryen, can't agree with ya.

RT is the LEAST of Gase's problems.

when I said "this is getting old" I meant that there are just one-liners to a post throwing it all on RT. This I cannot go along with.

There is a lot of psychology that goes into playing QB. I'm not gonna go into it as it would turn out to be a book (or at least a chapter in that book).

But, anyone who gets hit as much as RT has, a lot of things will go thru someone's mind.

Is he our biggest "weakness"???? Well ......since he represents one position then that would mean we are weaker at QB than in any other position. No, I don't think so.

But in a quarterback driven league, is his being a weak spot perhaps the most problematic thing about our team? Yes, probably.

That doesn't really clarify things for most of us.

Is Tannehill the biggest problem on this team or not? You said NO, he's not the "biggest" problem. But you said he's the "main" problem.

I think I actually agree with your position, but you're not relating it very well for me to be sure.

What I THINK you're saying is that there are positions where our talent is worse on a comparative level to the rest of league. However, because the QB position is so important and impacts the effectiveness of so many other positions, that having a weakness at that position is the main problem.

But I'm not sure that's what you are saying and I don't want to put words in your mouth.

For example: On a scale of 1-10 our OL could be a 2, 5 being average 10 being great. Our QB could be a 5 on that same scale. But because the Qb's impact to the game is more than the OL, the QB being only a 5 is more of a MAIN problem. The OL might be our BIGGEST problem (the gap between 10 and 2 being larger than the gap between 10 and 5), but because QB impacts the OL, the RB, the WR, etc.. that 5 is actually worse than the 2.

If that's what you're saying, I'm in agreement.

But like I said, I'm not sure and your verbiage is a bit confusing.

That was exactly what I meant when I said, to rephrase, that although quarterback was not our biggest weakness, it is our most crucial weakness. Just as you described me as saying.

Deer in the headlights is a bit over the top. You could say that about John Beck. Not Tannehill.

When he has time to throw he can pick a defense apart. I'VE SEEN IT. I've seen him make some unbelievable throws in tight windows. I've seen him throw for 4k yards and a 75:41 QB/TD ratio over the last 3 years. How many other QB's have done that?

Deer in the headlights? I don't think so.

I've see too many "next great things" at QB come and go around the NFL while Tannehill keeps producing all while taking a beating like NO OTHER QB.

The biggest weakness on this team for years has been management. Plain and simple. That's coaching and FO.

Why is Cam Wake under-performing? Why is Suh not performing? Why is Lamar Miller not performing? OV? Kenny Stills? The entire o-line? How did the defense go from top 5 to bottom 5 in one year?

The list goes on and on but I guess Tannehill is that one player who's actually the problem.

Dude, Tanny is from Lubbock, Texas, not that far from Amarillo, Texas, which is not that far from where I grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma.

I naturally wanted the dude to succeed but he sucks, and it's not just a question of protection.

Now he sucks? Sorry Bro Lots of Teams have #1 round QB's that suck. Tanny does not suck. Is he not a superstar? Not yet but thats arguable due to the facts I've mentioned , but Sucks? If I told you 5 yrs ago he would be pulling down 4000 yds a year you would have blown me.

We wasted a lot more on Jordon and this defense and no one seems even a little miffed about it.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Well, as far as Jordan is concerned, it was the regular screw up which we've come to expect.

We'll have to agree to disagree about Tanny. Didn't your tagline used to be about Ross saying he expected to retire Tanny's jersey one day?

LOL. If he does, it will be the waste of a good number. LOL.

Nope that was never my tagline. Tanny will never be a Dan Marino. No one will be. But he will be a great leader....Tunsil falling to 13 was meant to be! He will be Tannys new best friend. drinking smiley

Capkoi.........Overall no more excuses for tannehill this year...

Last year they drafted a top notch WR in the first round...and landry in the latter rounds.....Two keepers.....Soon to be superstars...'

We also have ajayi at RB who looks good.

This year they drafted probably the best looking OT in the draft pound for pound in the first round...

Probably more offensive players to help tannehill to come in 2016 draft...

What i mean is they are doing everything possible to get tANNEHILL CONFORTABLE IN THE POCKET...

sO NO MORE EXCUSES FOR HIM...

Either he becomes a decent player or needs to be let go and draft somebody else to replace him.

Again....No more excuses for tannehill.

Agreed.

It's good to see you listed everything some of us here have been saying all along and you have finally come around.

Again, with everything he has around him, along with a (hopefully) good coaching staff that will utilize ALL its players correctly, there will be no excuses.

But....let me say this. If everything works around him and he has the same stats he had last season, it is (almost) a guarantee Miami will be in the playoffs. However, let's see what happens with the defense the rest of the draft.

Man.......it feels like the last time I was fighting everybody on an issue I was SURE about......It was that we never should have traded up for a DE to the 3rd pick overall in the draft. Then the very next season I said while he still has value......Trade Trade Trade!People said Wake was over the hill we needed a replacement. Take a little loss, trade him for whatever we can get. . Nope I was told I was nuts.

I'm telling you all at the end of next season I want everyone here to book mark this and apologize when we make the playoffs , Tannehill goes 5000 yds with just a decent Oline and running game , coaching and a defense that doesnt give the games away .

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You may be right TCPF, but we are still calling you nuts! smileys with beer

Ordinarily I'd be mad at us taking a RB in the 2nd round when our Defense is hurting...but I really took a hard look at Henry and have come to the conclusion that I like the idea of smashing the enemy with this living battering ram. So far 2 picks and 2 thumbs up!
