Better to have a small brain when you play football.

Airheads are best.

Tex Cobb could really take a punch.

Because of the Super Bowl?

Can we discuss that?

As I stated many times before, I joined fanship of the Dolphins in April 1967 when Bob Griese was drafted by the Dolphins.

In those days we were all for the AFL (and later AFC) Champions. As I remember Green Bay routed the first two opponents, KC and Oakland.

We all rooted for the AFL champion, no matter who it was.

We all took pride in Joe Willy beating the Colts, followed up by KC and then the Colts after the rearrangement of teams. Needless to say we rooted for the Dolphins and even the Steelers through their glorious run.

Why don't I feel the same way now?

The F*cking Cheatriots.

Now that ole AFL loyalty is gone.

Now, for what is sure to be a controversial point followed by a controversial suggestion.

This was meant to be the "discuss" first posting above.

In retrospect, all of the hard plastic padding and hard helmets were brought into American football sometime after its early days when American football players were dressed more like rugby players.

Could it be that this was an ironic mistake??

Could it be that the modern uniform designed to protect a player from injury, now is responsible for CAUSING a great deal more injury than if players only wore soft padding?

In addition, is it necessary that a player be taken to the ground to constitute a tackle rather than simply stopping his forward progress?

I know we're junkies hooked on the present day American football but are the soccer fans of Europe any less hooked.

My nephew is more of a rabid Manchester United fan than he is a fan of his beloved San Francisco 49ers.

Replacing the gladiator helmet with a skimpy leather skull cap (with optional twirly bird on top) would eliminate the problem.

BNF.

Yeah, but the shoulder pads coming 90 miles an hour on a soft helmet might even be worse. Gotta eliminate the shoulder pads (really hard plastic) as well.

Had a slight hangover concussion in the AM from Sat night's BBQ here at home.

I was celebrating that the Pats weren't in it.

Skull caps equipped with twirly birds on the top would be great with padded bras instead of shoulder pads. Maybe call them Lady-Brady bras?

LOL, 808, my comment was directed to the fact that our OTHER Super Bowl thread was closed down by the moderator for different reasons. Not meant to comment on your beer post. LOL.

LOL. As we all were.

I took a vacation day on Monday thinking I would be hung over. Turns out the only issue was over-dosing on food. I made ribs and pulled pork for my party, ate so much I couldn't drink any more. Oldpeopleproblems.
