Shed some light?

Apparently according to multiple sources, Ross' favorite to be next HC is Adam Gase. He has 3 years experience as an offensive coordinator. Two of those years were with Denver where arguably Peyton Manning was the defacto play caller. What am I missing? And its not just Ross. Gase seems like the hot name. I don't see why. One could make the point that Seattle's offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell would be a better option (notwithstanding the bone headed call in Super Bowl). He's been the coordinator since 2011 and has done a nice job with Russell Wilson. For some reason, Gase seems to be the flavor of the day and I don't see why.

If this happens the front office has not learned a damn thing from the Philbin disaster. I like Bevell.

I just posed the same question in another thread. The bad part is that Gase has a better resume than the other guy we interviewed.

... career RB coach, Anthony Lynn!

Yes, Campbell is more qualified than Anthony Lynn. I have a feeling that Ross is pushing for Gase and I just don't see him as the best option. Not even sure I'd put him as a top 3 or 4 option. It's hard to have any confidence in this front office. But, I guess we shall see.

Omar insists that Ross has nothing to do with the search. It's all on Tannenbaum.

You would think Tannenbaum would insist on someone better than these two due to the fact that the way he is doing his job is being criticized......but fumbling, bumbling Ross....well, he's not even on the same planet when it comes to seeing there is any problem. As long as the whore sucking him off under the blanket is doing a good job, Ross is oblivious to anything being wrong in the world, including ISIS.

Looking for the Coordinator on a successful team wont bring us success. You need a leader of men. Someone who not only understand the X's and O's but can motivate greatness when the going gets tough. Coordinators , even successful ones don't all hold that attribute as we have seen , from time and again. Philbin was the greatest example of a brilliant Offensive mind understanding play calling , but not a clue into how to prepare these men for battle. Ross is surrounded by YES men on a daily basis. He has no idea what its like anymore to actually have testosterone pumping in his veins and standing up to a challenge . He lives on the intellectual side of the world where a good "interview" shows him all he needs to know about the job. What I like about Campbell Is he just "talk" about whats needs to be done. Like Don Shula back in the day who used to lead the early Dolphins in reg. Jogs and workouts , Dan Campbell walks the walk still with these warriors daily. he wont just talk about a good block, I've seen him actually bash a guy with full pads on pretty violently to get a point across. That's something Ross wont ever get in his upper crusted , wine sipping , sweater around the neck world that he lives in.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

TC--you've pretty much nailed it with your comments above.

Ross's worth has allowed him to buy an NFL franchise. Other businessman have done the same. The difference is I can see some of those other owners playing various sports, pick up games with childhood friends, at the very least. Yet, I can't imagine Ross every picking up a bat or ball, sweating to do push-ups, running wind sprints, intercepting a thrown football, shooting hoops, knocking a friend on his butt, or skinning his knees falling down in the street while playing touch football with friends.

Ross may like football just like some rich guys adore flashy cars, yet, they are not "car guys." Similarly, I sense Ross is just happy to be an NFL owner, have a team, and really happy to orchestrate the fashioning of a cool Joe Robbie stadium. I just would like him to do that and "flip" the team to a real owner that has an earthy sense for the game.

That is very true. A successful coordinator will often fail. Once he becomes HC, he is no longer 100% focused on the offense. It is closer to 25%. Therefor his expertise is not utilized unless he has a "clone" to take over the offense.

Now he has to split his time between offense, defense, ST, roster decisions, coordinators, position coaches, waiver wire, meeting with the GM and owner...all kinds of stuff.

Just being a good coordinator is only a fraction of the battle. That's why I would want someone who knows the demands of a HC and that could bring in a top notch staff.

Someone with long time NFL connections and who is also a natural leader and someone who can actually talk to and relate to the players, inspire them, make them WANT to perform for you

Also, someone who can identify and develop talent and not be afraid to demote or fire a player OR coach and at the same time promote a younger guy.

Philbin did not have hardly any of those things.

Good points Colonel. I just don't see any "toughness' in Ross at all. from his choice of Logo and uniforms, to the red carpet and 1% famous owners its all just another fashion accessory.

Right on Joe! And I saw that fire In Campbell a bit. He fired his old boss Lazor when he didn't do what he wanted....run the ball. I think he started to run the ball successfully after that with a no name assistant and a crappy Oline. How does Ross not see that!? I get looking around the league and seeing whats out there.....the rooney rule and all that. but dang, its right under his wine cork sniffing nose. eye rolling smiley

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Agreed. I was hoping someone would bring up the whole Cam Cameron disaster to Ross.
