Not a bad idea, although as Mando points out, how much does Tom still have in the tank, and would he want to keep Campbell around? Also worth noting is that he may not be cool with being a stepping stone, no matter who the heir apparent is.

I prefer Coughlin to Shanahan, personally. I'd rather see McDaniels, Jackson, and even Payton (although it seems he has no intention of coming here) Not a fan of Mike Smith, Marrone, Austin, or Gase.

I like the Campbell Segway. I'd like to see him stay a part of this team. He can help make this team great.I'd take that coaching scenario. thumbs up makes to much sense though.Ross is never good at making sense.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

No one ever stays after being no. 1 (even "acting" or "interim"winking smiley and then someone else is given the head job, Treasure. Nor would the new Head guy want him around. These pro football players are, of all the different type of workers in the world, the ones most likely to revert to being children.

I could see these children telling the new Hc "Well, Campbell didn't do it the way you are telling us but you know who did??? That dipshit Philbin. Tell him, Dan!"

You people are delusional if you think you are going to have your new HC and eat your Campbell too.

I think you are probably right, but it still seems to me to be a good idea. I noticed that you didn't say you disliked the idea.

I definitely like the idea, which means it probably won't happen!

This (article) is the best case scenario, IMO. I would also think that the Philly job would be more enticing to TC. Location, talent and playing the Giants twice a year...

I don't see any of the other candidates having enough gusto to completely remodel this team. What I don't want is another inexperienced coordinator who has never been a head coach. Whoever we get needs to be able to hit the ground running, know what he is doing from day one and be able to assemble a top notch staff.

Tom Coughlin with Dan Campbell as assistant HC/position coach would be awesome. I would let Campbell roam around at different position spots on offense AND defense for 2 years and potentially as OC in year 3, followed by promotion to HC when Coughlin retires.

2016 candidates.......

Prior HC'ing experience:

Tom Coughlin, Sean Payton, Hue Jackson, Mike Shanahan, Doug Marrone, Steve Spagnuolo, Chip Kelly, Pat Shurmur, Mike Mularkey, Mike Smith, Josh McDaniels, Mike Pettine, Jim Schwartz

Coordinator (NFL) experience only:

Adam Gase, Teryl Austin, Matt Patricia, Sean McDermott, Mike Shula, Ben McAdoo

Position coach experience only:

Anthony Lynn, Duce Staley, Paul Guenther, Tom Cable

My top choices ranked:

1 Tom Coughlin
2 Hue Jackson
3 Sean Payton
4 Mark Dantonio
5 Gary Patterson
6 David Shaw
7 Jim L. Mora
8 Mike Smith

That's probably the reality of that scenario. I think that was what happened between Lazor and Campbell. Campbell went from being his assistant to his boss in 5 minutes and Lazor couldn't handle it.

Maybe Campbell is a different beast? Wasn't Coughlin his coach on the Giants? Hes a much older guy, there is a lot of respect there, it might be a different dynamic. PLUS....does Campbell have any better offers? He MIGHT get a OC job somewhere with a bad team and no promises. This Offense could help him make a name for himself with a decent line. he already knows what hes got.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

If we hire Coughlin I bet we never hear from Miko Grimes again. Old school doesn't put up with nonsense like that.

Cross Sean Payton off the list. He's staying in NOLA.

YES. But a Bad Team with lots of potential. South Fla is alot better then Oakland. Or Washington D.C. etc, you get my point.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

This team and it's fans having been banking on "potential" for 43 years. The last 15 have been BRUTAL.

Miami may be better to live in that DC but they are in the playoffs. I doubt there fans are complaining much.

Point being, management is incompetent. Until that is remedied, we are all screwed.
