Just watched Ginn drop what would have been the winning catch in OT. It was a perfect pass, hit him right in the wheelhouse and he drops it. Brought back a lot of memories.
Man the game has changed! I don't even remember why there was so much upset about drafting Ginn? Were we looking for a QB again?
Anyway, I went back 10 years at a time 'til 1970. starting around 1990 and backwards; WRs were not 1st round picks very often. It was definitely still a running game even though the West Coast Offense had powered to SB victories. The 90's were controlled by a short passing game(except Irving to keep honesty) & a fourth quarter diet of Emmitt Smith.
Vonte Davis....I remember that name! Not just because he had a brother that played so well, I remember him when he was younger and quite rambunctious...but I can't...break down & look it up..AH! Champaign! University of Illinois, Big Ten player!!!
The anger with Ginn was that he was picked at #9 overall and was perceived to be mainly a punt/kick returner and even more importantly, everyone wanted Brady Quinn. Now in fairness, Cameron and Mueller were obviously right about Quinn, but were wrong to pick Ginn so high in the first round. They were also wrong to pick John Beck in the second round.

Right now if you look back......We were either going to pick ginn or quinn.
Im happy we picked ginn....At least he gave us some good returns against the jets.
They might have been wrong about the "mighty"Quinn. But Cameron would have stayed another year had he picked him. QB was the only 1st round pick to be made.failed QBS happen. But a failed punt returner is about as stupid a pick one can make. As Robert Downey Jr once said....you never go full retard. He went head first.
Ginn Kicked the jets ass by himself....2 Kick returns for tds...
Quinn Would had been great for the practice squad...
At that time i wanted quinn.....But whoever says today ( seeing how they both turned out as players........that they want quinn instead of ginn is retarded.
Brady quinn today is working at mcdonalds....While ginn is playing in the NFL and getting paid millions.

Ginn was hardly a failed punt/kickoff returner, in fact he was the best one in Dolphin history. He was an underwhelming receiver although that hookup from Henne to Ginn over the head of Revis still gives me goosebumps.

Sam sam. Your not getting the big picture. Put down the bottle brother!
No won can read the future or Zach Thomas and Tom Brady are first round picks also.
At that time and place, we had no reason on this green earth to be picking such luxuries as a punt returner in the first round.none. we needed a QB and we should have traded down if we didn't like what they saw. That simple.done. case closed.....Go have another beer now.......

Hard to say what Quinn might have done.different scenerio, different chemistry.who knows? We could have drafted Alex Rodgers as he fell and he might have sucked here.
Ginn cost us a high first rounder. He did nothing except win 1 great game agains the Jets. We got nothing for him.who knows what Quinn might have gotten us.even in trade.who knows. But it was the only right move at the time , no matter how wrong as well.
Ohio St. or The Ohio St. another Big 10 school. Hawthorne-the Big 10 was good, and is coming back.
Still-that RB for LSU strikes memories of UGA, Auburn, Texas, OK St., & that guy that did Hertz commercials. But then he fell pretty hard! On top of the world & then get busted for selling fake stuff in a hotel room...or something; he may have broke the law before that even from what I've heard?? Opinion samsam? You should say something occasionally, not keep it all in.
I would but I freeze out the topic. See that name & most maybe think "Awh-ooh" it's that guy stuck in the past hating on anything & everyone. And they'd be right. I was inhaling nitrous all day long. Very intoxicated. I am joking. I don't have any excuse for that day other than sometimes when I get down, I blame others instead of standing in front of a mirror and looking at the problem.
Plus I upgraded to Windows XP the other day & I'm having a tough time figuring everything out.
I take that back. Southern teams do not get much play when it comes to the SB. Depending on whether you consider San Fran/Oakland to be in the south, only Dallas & Miami have contributed much.
Dallas: '71, '72, '76, '78, '79, '93, '94, '96,
Miami: '72, '73, '74, '83, '85
LA Rams: '80
LA Raiders: '84
San Diego: '95
Atlanta: '99
Tennessee: 2000
Tampa Bay: '03
Carolina: '04
Arizona: '09
New Orleans: '10
Thinking about the games individually; I don't think it matters if I look 1,2,3,7 games ahead. Obviously the players will be different because of injuries and if another loss happens right away, we will be working in younger players.
1) @Philly (4-4) Who really knew at the beginning, and hell, the same now!! Weird coaching philosophy or odd way in trading quality players for what they get back?? One more year of this style of strange preparedness for a season & I think Chip is gone.?.?.? This is a game we should win, can win, & will!!!
2) Dallas (2-6) This game will be tougher than the Philly game, but we should win because we are at home. I only say that because that needs to be a priority, and it hasn't been. #8 & #11 Philly & Dallas rank in rushing offense. Probably key to each game!!
3) @NYJ (5-3) Ok, the HC is a defensive guru, or good? The team ranks #4 in Total D, #1 in rushing D, & #14 in passing. So we run up the numbers as much as possible and see if one of their QB's can hang?
4) RAVENS (2-6) We should win period! We owe them!!
5) NYG (5-4) We need our DB's to really step up this game!! Prime Time MNF, we need it and can do it with confidence!!
6) @CHARGERS (2-6) We usually suck-it-up on the west coast but what has been normal about Miami for 15 years now? We win going away!!
7) INDY (4-5)
8) NE (8-0)
We are 5-1 going into our final 2 home & seasonal games of 2015. Chances are better we beat Indy because TANN has a winning record against Luck. But if NE is still undefeated, game in Miami, big time. Plus, if NE has lost 1 and it makes no difference whether they win or lose against Miami, they not beat us by much with their 2nd & 3rd string playing, MAYBE? I still say we beat Indy for a 6-2 finish giving us a 9-7 record and if Ben's really hurt, 3 teams from the AFC East go!!!
