Let's all finally agree that the coaching staff is pure crap and needs to go. The ownership we pretty much can't do anything about so....
What I want to know is how many more years are we going to make excuses for Tannehill, arguably the most important player? How many more times are we going to sit in front of the TV and watch this guy under throw and over throw and just generally look like he is freaking out and clueless out there? Why does everyone love to blow smoke up this very mediocre guy's ass? I pretty much knew from the get go that this guy is no elite QB. I thought he would develop. And he has marginally improved.
But he is nowhere near where he needs to be after four years. That contract was likely the worst thing Philbin has done. If we are going to have to wait until the kid has a world class OL, that's just not acceptable nor is it happening any time soon. I am not willing to wait that much longer. And neither are most fans.
This is a passing league. We have a crappy passer. Not the worst ever but nowhere near the passer we need to get to the playoffs much less win a postseason game.
No matter who is coaching, that is the truth. The curse of mediocrity continues for this team. How do we break the curse?

The line is certainly not all world but it is ranked just below middle of the pack in pass protection (18th) which is above GB, Denver and Buffalo just to name a few. I bet it would be surprising how much better they would look if opposing defenses had to worry about something other than a three step drop and a slant pass.
A good way to start would be to stop living in the past and trying to find the next iteration of past Dolphins greats. I feel we are doing our new guys a huge disservice by holding them to such an unattainable and lofty standard. Establish who our playmakers and leaders are, develop their individual strengths, make plays to suit those strengths, and build around that core.
Signing the highest level guy at one position, be it because of their name or past exploits, as a band-aid instead of beefing up multiple areas is something the Dolphins have done for the entire time I've been alive. You cant throw 53 individuals together and expect to win. You have to have a strategy and leaders competent enough to execute said strategy.
I am a big fan of Tannehill, and I don't believe he has been utilized properly, nor can we pin the TEAMS failures solely on him. The team has failed him as much as he's failed them.
