Last Two mins of half and game...why can't coach challenge?

in yesterday's game, the refs blew a spot before the 58 yard fg at the end of the first half...a correct spot and the FG is no good. Philbin could not challenge it because under two mins. It was up to the booth to review and they didn't
At end of game, JAX clearly got a 1st down that would have prevented Miami from getting ball back after FG. Bradley could not challenge cause it was under 2 mins..again it was up to the booth to review and they didn't.
Both of these wrong calls had a direct impact on outcome of game. It seems odd and fishy not to let coaches challenge calls in the parts of games that usually determine the outcome.
Might as well not have a challenge system at all if you can't challenge a wrong call that costs you a game.
An example of a rule leaving things to common sense which is sometimes lacking.
Football has advanced to the point that all scoring plays and changes of possessions are automatically reviewed under such situations but apparently has not advanced to the place where all spots of the ball are automatically reviewed. However, to do so would also result in an opportunity for both teams to "get their act together" without calling a timeout so that also might be a consideration weighing against expanding the review.

A coach can't challenge anything after the 2 minute warning, gotta come from the booth.....which royally screwed us against Jax
