He is still rehabbing but did start doing some individual drills. Very light work so far. It has been said he will need two weeks of practice before he plays in a game.
He had surgery on June 5th with an 8 week recovery time which some said was optimistic. The average time for recovery for an athlete with that surgery is 12 weeks. That means he would be ready to start practicing August 28th. That's one day before the 3rd preseason game vs Atlanta. I would say he will be ready to go on a limited snap count basis by week 2....but that's just a projection. It could be week 1. No need to rush him back and I'm sure they won't.
There hasn't really been any updates on his rehab as far as I've seen other than Philbin backing off the original 8 week time table.
JP did say he would be ready by week 1 but also clarified that he didn't know if that meant 20 snaps or 40 snaps.
Still a better prognosis than what Chicago got for Kevin White, who may miss the entire season.
Depending on how much he does next week, that sort of puts him on track to play week 1. Philbin usually wants a player to practice two full weeks before returning from injury.
On a side note...
Breshad Perriman hasn't practiced since injuring his knee on the first day of training camp (July 30).
Kevin White injured his shin in OTA's and the team opted to not have surgery. He had a setback and is now on PUP for first 6 weeks.
Amari Cooper has been as advertised as #1 WR.
Nelson Agholor has been better than expected and is fighting for #2.
Phillip Dorsett has looked very good but is 4th on depth chart.
Devin Smith is out 4-6 weeks with punctured lung and broken ribs.
Dorial Green-Beckham needs work but should contribute this year.
Devin Funchess has been decent and will now have an increased load with Benjamin out.
Tyler Lockett has lloked explosive and will start at KR.
Jaelen Strong was struggling after injury and has been called out by HC. Seems to have a bit of an attitude.
Sammie Coates has been decent but needs refinement.
Overall a pretty good group and could rival last years rookie WR's.
I think Parker could fight it out with Cooper for best in class if he gets back soon enough...with Agholor close behind.
