Yeah. Never heard of him until we picked him. Perfect skill set for our system.

Dallas Thomas is REALLY going to have to have improved to beat this kid out at LG.

For some odd reasons, the coaches love DT. I would argue that Turner is a LG and Dallas is a RG only. They disagree obviously. DT has talent but he just hasn't found it yet.

Well, Joe, maybe with all the bodies that have been brought in to challenge him for the job, he will finally wake up and get it done. If not, see ya!

when you say he can pull like a beast?

Id like to see him pull like a beast in the NFL.

Face it joe you excited about him.smoking smiley

I hope he dont turn out another dallas thomas bro.

I too been excited about players before and they turn out wet firecrackers.

I stop doing that already.

I dont get excited about the phins anymore. They always find a way to crush my excitement by around midseason.

Then when there are about 4 or 5 games left in the season we are out of the playoffs already....or have to win out to make it...You know how that turns out every year.

If you're going to respond to a post that is over a month old, you might want to quote it. Just a thought.

If you refuse to get excited about the Dolphins, why are you even here? Just to nay say? If I couldn't find a reason to be excited, I wouldn't be here...and would probably stop watching.

To each his own.

Sam, just because your are understandably soured from the years of let downs and abuse, doesn't mean you have to sour it for everybody or everybody has to be sour.. As a Dolphins fan we all go through different phases of optimism vs pessimism at different times.... I am cautiously optimistic about Douglas, and I like to hear more info about him.. Cause lets be honest, 2 months ago, none of us had any knowledge of this guy.. I surely wasn't studying potential 4th rd guards... All is well, and lets hope for the best...

That's the key. All of these athletes were stars in college, but when a couple dozen of them fit the system and work well together, all opponents suddenly confront a new entity...and wish they were elsewhere. This is why I like what I'm seeing in MIAMI, and never ask "how many more All Pros do we need"?

I see MIAMI contending NOW...and I don't just mean for a Playoffs spot.

Jamil is getting a lot of reps with the first team at LG. I mean, hey, its only OTA's... but at least they are comfortable enough to at least give him the reps.

Philbin said he is very pleased that Douglas does not make many mental errors and has no hesitation/plays fast. That's all you really want at this stage with no pads or contact.

Turner, who is the favorite to start at right guard, said Dolphins players learned quickly about Douglas’ strength.

“He’s a strong guy,” Turner said. “If you didn’t know, I think a lot of guys realize that. He’s got a good punch and he’s getting a lot better day by day.” - PBP

Looks like the line is pretty much set.

LT Albert
LG Thomas
C Pouncey
RG Douglas
RT James

Now we just need that group to gel together.

I must admit I feel much better about this group than I did last year or just a few weeks ago.

Douglas looks like he might turn out to be a steal as a 4th rounder. Thomas has figured it out it seems.

I even thing our depth is better than what we had last year with Nate Garner and Shelley Smith....etc

Swapped out Colledge for Thomas
James back to RT
definite upgrade at center from Satele
Albert back at LT
promising rookie at RG who is known for his physical strength and ability to learn quickly.

If we got 1100 yards out of Lamar Miller (who also looks better) with that line then how much can we get with this improved unit? 1300 plus better play by Williams, James and Ajayi ???

No 8 man fronts with this receiver group either. We are going to tear it up this year!

Philbin hasn't said how he is going to handle the last preseason game, but if I were him....

The one unit that I would definitely start is the OLine. They HAVE to get on the same page. Since Douglas was just recently named the starter, he has to get work in with the other guys, and vice versa. None of these guys truly knows what the other guy can or will do in certain situations; that comes with time and practice.

RT is going to have to get the ball out quickly, like he has been doing during the preseason, and the running game is gonna have to be effective, but for that to happen, the OL has to be at least "competent." Anything less, and the Fins will be in trouble.

@AdamHBeasley

Pouncey conceded that Jamil Douglas is stronger than him -- but not faster.

Call me crazy but I am confident in this line....WITH Dallas Thomas at LG. He will have a few breakdowns this year and give up a few sacks but he will be sufficient for the most part. Playing between Pouncey and Albert will be a big boost to his abilities. Lots better than playing between Satele and a rookie.

jamil looked good. not matter what pff says, watching the games in short yardage situations, the weak link in on the interior is our overrated center.
