Glowing words.

Here is what Pro Football Draft guide says:

UPSIDE: A long, strong receiver, Parker displays the ball-tracking ability and body control to consistently get the ball at its high point. He uses strength and quickness to escape jams. His catch radius is enormous, and he snatches the ball with ease. He has good straight-line speed and runs hard after the catch.

DOWNSIDE: Creating separation is never a given with Parker, as he doesn't have the kind of suddenness in his route running to blow defenders away. He's a bit more of a long-strider who takes time to get to top speed. There are also health concerns after he missed much of last season with a foot injury.

BOTTOM LINE: His physical abilities guarantee NFL success. He needs a quarterback who trusts him to win the contested ball.

The best stat I have heard about Parker....He scores a TD on every 5th pass he catches.

If you equate that to 75 receptions (Benjamin 73 last year, Landry had 84), it's good for 15 TD's.

I like the pick, just not sure of him getting the ball.

Lamar Thomas (former Dolphin), Parkers WR coach said he was shocked when Parker only ran a 4.45. He said "Charles Gaines runs a 4.3 and I saw DP run by Charles a lot. It's like jerry Rice type of speed where Davante can accelerate."

Other praise from Thomas....

Parker is like a sponge and studies diligently.

hand/eye coordination and ball catching radius are amazing. He can get off the jam and is a good route runner. Especially at slants, hitches and comebacks.

great character and came back to school after getting a 1st round grade in 2014 draft. Wanted to get degree for his grandmother.

reminds Thomas of AJ Green and Jimmy Smith (Jags).

long strider that takes time to separate,,,,,, QB won't wait on that.

Thomas also said that of Parker is not a star in 5 years it will be because of the QB.

First-round pick DeVante Parker stood out, showing why he was drafted 14th overall.

For starters, he knows how to use his 6-foot-3 frame, extending for several catches and making it appear that if Ryan Tannehill can put the ball anywhere near this guy, there’s an excellent chance it’ll be a completion.

#Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker just made a jump-ball catch over a DB in 7-on-7 drills. He’s having an impressive start to rookie camp.

Don’t wanna get overly excited on 1st day of rookie camp but…DeVante Parker looks darn good. Catching everything.

I’ll tell you what @MiamiDolphins fans, @DeVanteParker09 is going to be a stud. Watching him here at mini camp. Catches everything.

equals Yatil green without getting injured..

Knock on wood.

Yatil green could burn rubber when he was healthy in practices...

Only guy to burn madison a few times but noone can stay one on one with yatil green especially when it was dan doing the passing.

Several times today DeVante Parker has caught poorly thrown balls by extending hands or contorting his body. Impressive.

It's early, but at least it's positive reviews

1997 was a terrible year for WR's and Green was way over drafted. He would have been a 4th round pick this year. The 1997 draft was one of the worst all time drafts for overall talent at the top of the draft. the fact that we walked away with Sam madison and Jason Taylor is a miracle.

College stats...

Yatil Green, 6'2 205: 1477/10
DeVante Parker, 6'3 210: 2775/33

Top drafted receivers in 1997...

Ike Hilliard Giants Florida
Yatil Green Dolphins Miami (FL)
Reidel Anthony Buccaneers Florida
Rae Carruth Panthers Colorado
Joey Kent Oilers Tennessee
Kevin Lockett Chiefs Kansas State
Will Blackwell Steelers San Diego State

Ugghhh!

Yatil Green?!? Eeeewwwwwwww.

He was was a so-so wr in college who was drafted in the first because of his 40 time. Parker is the opposite of that.

I don't see the AJ Green comparisons.

He reminds me more of Jordy Nelson, but better in the air going after the ball.
