Jordon is only 1 pee test away from a long suspension. No one is taking a chance on him unless he's cut. If we get stupid lucky and find a Team willing to part with anything on the 3rd day of the draft, we grab it and run.......
Everyone continually beats this horse without acknowledging that we take a 6 mil cap hit this year for trading Jordan. It's 1 mil more than if we keep him and I doubt wee even have the cap space to do it.
The only trade that makes sense is to do is for a player who would be in a similar contract situation who would get paid by their former team.
Jordan has roster bonuses this and next year for 1.7 mil and 2.5 mil. We are stuck with his signing bonus of 6 mil remaining no matter what. Not sure when those bonuses kick in but I doubt he earns the 2.5 next year.

It was a bold move but I don't know how brilliant is was considering he was a projection pick as a 43 DE....and with limited college production. If I was trading up it would be for more of a sure thing (if there is such a thing). It would not be for a guy with 14 career sacks and only 5 as a senior. It would be someone like Leonard Williams, who is the consensus best player who could drop due to team needs.
Ireland did get value for the pick but that's about the only praise I can give him. The trade was a net value equal to the 38th overall pick (+520).
Well, I don't fancy myself a draftnik at all, but remembering the praise Ireland got from this board and the national pundits told me it was a good move (maybe brilliant was too much). Oh well, water under the bridge now.

Yeah, and I was hoping for Drew Brees that year (2001?) that we instead picked Jamar Fletcher but
....as Dandy Don used to say, "If 'ifs and buts' were candy and nuts, what a Merry Christmas we all would have."
At this point we're better off continuing his development, even if he fouls out with another drug suspension because we won't get anything for him in a trade and no real cap relief UNLESS that rumor about his guarantee being voided due to his drug suspension is true...unable to confirm that.
I still agree with the coaching staff...he's better off as DE. I know many fans and media disagree.
See to me, if you're only getting a 5th rnder for him (with the cap hit) I'd rather roll the dice and give him one more year. If you can get a 2nd or maybe 3rd, then I can possibly see it, but not a 5th IMO

I agree.
It makes no sense to dump him, take the extra cap hit and only get a late round pick who won't have the same impact on special teams or covering gronk.
For the right price, sure make the move. But he has value to thus team, even if he never improves.

What are the odds that 5th round pick makes the team? What are the odds that if he does, he's a better player this year than Jordan would on st's or covering te's?
We have 2 5ths this year already. We don't need another.
It really appears that the Phins are trying to trade Jordan. Its the only explainable reason he is out of voluntary workouts. Not sure what plans they have for the cap hit. I think he is worth keeping the guy flashes talent just needs to get on the field which to me is more the coaches than him. If traded I think we can get at minimum a 3rd. Some Phin fans see him as a bust but I don't think front office people around the nfl see him as one.

Interesting part is that Eagles and Dolphins were nearing a trade for Dion Jordan. Then came the diluted sample and suspension. So no deal.
Sounds like some people have known about this for a minute Sam, not like Miami found out from Schefters twitter account

.......and? You think we as fans know everything? I'll bet the front office knew when they kept side stepping questions about Jordan in the press conference the other day, like mizzou said, it makes sense now.
I still would rather hang onto him for a year than trade him for a 5th. We get cap relief due to his suspension. the minute we trade him for a sack of marbles he gets his head on straight and dominates for his new team. I'd rather get nothing for him than a 5th and watch that happen. screw Jordan. And Ireland.

I don't think Miami knew about the pending suspension while the were working on the trade. That's bad business.
It's more likely they held him out last week because of the trade negotiations and that the test result came after the decision to hold him out of the ota.
