Grimes is a lot smaller. I think its tougher on bigger guys to regain that quickness and explosion after an Achilles tear.
As for Nicks...no thanks. he was a dog in NY and if he can't catch balls from Andrew Luck he's not worth investing in.

Agreed, Marino lost all his mobility and elusiveness after his injury

Yeah I could see size being a factor....

He's had injuries and as far as I know, has an attitude problem.
I believe I read where he had ten drops last year?
I understand the theory of veteran leadership, but is it really that big of a deal? Personally, I don't think so. Some people are born with it, and display it, no matter the age. Is it that important for Miami to go out and sign a WR just because he is a veteran? Miami signs Crabtree and he just may be the wrong type of a veteran....then what?
There are plenty of veterans on this team that could keep the young players in line. How much is a veteran WR really going to "mentor" the young receivers? Besides, doesn't Miami have a WR coach?
I would prefer Miami draft one of the top WRs who would do his talking on the field.

We'll probably drat a guy early as well Cap, but Crabtree on a 1 year "prove it" deal for 3.5m is a good risk/reward move on our part.
Not too expensive if we have to cut him. He should be on his best behavior trying to be as productive as possible so he can get paid next offseason by us or someone else.
We need a veteran presence in our WR group. He's the best option at this point.
Agreed, a one year deal for reasonable money is not a bad thing...and even if we do it, we should still draft a WR early. More weapons are better weapons.

I got to hang with Marino yesterday at the beach, went out of his way 3 different times to talk to my kids, even came down and checked out their sand castle they were building... Has to be one of the nicest most gracious celebrity type guys I have ever spent any time around..

Wow Crowder that is awesome. I wish I could meet Marino some day -- would be kind of hard though with me living in the middle of the Pacific ocean. I wonder if he's ever been back to Hawaii since his Pro Bowl years. I have never been to Florida but I would love to visit there some day.

It was awesome, I had met Marino before, but never got to really hang with him.. When he said hello to me and the boys at first on sunday, I just treated him like anyone else and he seemed to like that because he kept further engaging us all day.. He almost seemed to feel safe and comfortable around us, so everytime I went up to the pool or pool bar area from the beach, he would see me walk up and follow me up.. Almost like I was giving him protection from other people who might act a fool.. It was really cool.. At one point the womens restroom was full, so he had the mens bathroom blocked off so the woman with him could use it.. When I walked up, he said, no this guy is alright, he can come use the bathroom with me.. We joked around, and said we need to get on the owner of the club to expand the bathroom area... I even joked with him about his custom urinal at Huizengas club that was made for those better endowed... He told me it was a joke between him and Wayne and he only wished it was the case he needed a urinal for the better endowed.
It was very special to hang with a hero and legend of mine since childhood..
Lauderdale is a great area you should put it on your list of places to visit...
