Ndamukong Suh will sign with #Dolphins on Tuesday based off parameters around $114 million and $60 million guaranteed, per sources.
Chris Mortensen?@mortreport·13m13 minutes ago
Suh also will get $60 million in first 3 years of 6-year contract, based on parameters set between #Dolphins and Suh's agent, Jimmy Sexton.
A ton of money but hopefully with Big risk come big reward. Assume Odrick is gone, Starks is gone
Wake Suh, Vernon, Jordan, Mitchell, Shelby? I would move Wake for a younger player or pick. Suh in the middle will open things up for the ends and improve the secondary
Bills rumored to have made big offer to Clay, Phins might not match
Good deal (not financially, of course) for Miami. Didn't think it would get done, as I figured it to be too cost prohibitive.
I realize Miami is still in the process of freeing up cap space (Wheeler let go today?) and Ellerbe is right behind. I'm not the cap guru for Miami, but anybody here know what Suh's signing and more player cuts for Miami will do with Miami's cap space?

I agree with the idea of trading Vernon if the deal is right... We aren't going to be able to keep him after next year anyways.. It all depends on what we can get for him... It might be more beneficial to keep a good DE for one year on the cheap and not get anything in return for OV. We still need a healthy # 2 CB.
The only other option would be trade or dump Wake next year and use that money to sign Vernon..
This draft is going to be important to fill some starter roles on the cheap for the next few years to offset the money Suh is going to get...

Makes sense.
You jam all the guaranteed money into the first 3 years when you have the cap space to deal with it.
10 this year, 25 and 25...(or something like that). Then reasonable amounts in year 4 and 5 (15ish) with a larger number (24) in year six, which he never gets.
Right now we are set to clear something like 40m in cap space next year and that's without the likely $10m or so increase in the cap from additional NFL revenues.

You mean like The Miami Dolphins?
The chance to trade Wake has come and gone.
You won't get fair value for him at this point. He's worth more on the field than the 4th round pick we might get for him.

Also that 40 million number includes Wallace and Ellerbe salaries, which we most likely will not have next year...

Wake is done after next year unless he renegotiates. We aren't paying him close to 9m to be a rotational guy. That money will go to his replacement be it Vernon or a FA.
That's why DE is a big need in the draft. We could get a pass rusher in 1 and a WR in two. Lots of depth at WR. DE represents a lot of value. Maybe 2nd to only QB.
If Fowler, Beasley, Ray and Gregory are gone by 14, we could trade down and take a shot at Armstead or Dupree...although Armstead scares me....DE from Oregon....yikes.
I am not convinced Vernon is a franchise weak side DE. That's the primo spot for pass rushers....blind side.
You are right about one thing, Wake has only a year left and snaps may be more limited this year.
Dion Jordan ???? I wish. We could fall apart on the line real quick.

It is becoming a bigger need.
It wouldn't shock me if an elite guy feel to 14 and we passed on OG and WR to take him.
The only DE I really like in that area is Alvin Dupree.
Beyond that I'd rather take a guy like Anthony Chickillo later in the draft and sign a FA like Jabaal Sheard or Brian Orakpo on the cheap.
Wallace, Wake and Grimes could all be gone after this year due to age and/or ballooning contracts. I think all three are in play in this years draft to replace them, I'm sure there's still some hope Jordan blossoms this year, so they can always get a WR and CB this year and wait on DE till next year. Obviously if one of the top DE's fall to #14 then would almost have to grab him.

Wallace is gone for sure after next year unless he takes a huge pay cut. Wake is due ten million and OV is a free agent. One of them is most likely gone.. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Wake restructure to stay with the team. He has never been a guy all about the money.. If the defense thrives next year, he might want to stay along for the ride and finish his career here.. OV will be the wild card in the Wake decision IMO...
Grimes, it is all about his play.. He is still a great corner, if he keeps up his play then I imagine we don't cut him.. We need to draft a # 2 guy this year then can be Grimes replacement in 2 years IMO.. Grimes biggest weakness last year was in run support. He is a little undersized in run support. And teams exploited that last year running at him which also beat him up during the game.. With Suh in the middle, the LB's can help cover the outside better, which should help take that constant run support pressure that Grimes had to do last year..

Half of them will be coming off after the 2015 season if they are June 1st cuts.
