I agree with him on dgb. He is raw. But he only played his fr & soph seasons. He's not going to be as developed as other guys.
Not sure about the Fitzgerald comp for strong though. I like him but not as much as that.

Couple of points:
If Percy Harvin was tradeable then Wallace certainly is.
There are more than a few teams out there with HUGE cap space available (like Oakland) who could easily absorb the rest of his contract.
and what did the jets get for harvin? not much. and wallace is making a ton more, he's one of the highest paid WR in the league but doesn't perform like it and has an attitude problem

I was pretty familiar with Jeff Ireland's draft philosophy and methodology. I can't say I've got Dennis Hickey figured out yet. My take on the draft is that the Dolphins are very likely to draft defense...the most highly rated defender on the board since they could use help everywhere.

It doesn't matter what harvin did or didn't do. That's irrelevant. It just shows that top talent is tradable no matter the warts or the contract.
His attitude "problems" are overstated. His value to any offense just by his presence on the field is grossly understated.
yes but you are proposing getting a high pick and then some for a guy. Harvin was talented and had warts and SEA got pennies on the dollar and there was no vibe that he was about to be cut soon, unlike wallace. I don't see that as being irrelevant at all. I am sure we could get a 5th or 6th for wallace but I'd rather keep him. But yeah I'd trade him for a 1st round pick, who wouldn't? it's just not happening though

I wasn't predicting we'd get it. Just said I wouldn't trade him for less because what he brings to my offense I can't replace this off-season.
Wallace is 10X the player Harvin is and 1/10th the headache. The fact that ANY team would give up mid round pick for Harvin and his 10m a year deal should indicate that Wallace would get more interest.
After watching the few highlight clips of him, I'd have no problem if we got him, preferably in the 2nd because of the off field stuff, but I'm starting to think he doesn't last that long.
Big, fast WR is top of the draft list for us in my opinion, and he'd be one I'd definitely consider. This draft has a good amount of 1st-round talent at the WR position.
I'd like to see DT and G handled via FA and WR in the 1st.

I'm not big on WR at 14. We are not a team like the Ravens, or Broncos, or Dallas, that need a volume wideout (150+ targets). We need a tall guy to get a 50/50 ball occasionally in the redzone. We also need an athletic WR for about 80-90 attempts at #2 boundary, and at the #4, Gibson spot.
There are several ways to go about this. Lockett can be very functional at #2. DeAndrew White is a good #4. Mathews can move to #4 as well. The guy from Rice, Taylor, is an excellent 50/50 redzone target. Rather than carrying Hazel on the roster, that's the kind of WR Dolphins should carry.
What we need is a franchise receiver or running back. Enough of the "functional" players. We need studs that teams game plan around. Philbin's whole theory of "we don't need a #1" is complete BS. We need point scorers and play makers!

No, we don't. We do not need a franchise receiver. Franchise receiver is for teams like Bengals who run power football--2-wide sets, and need a guy who will get volume targets, 150+.
We need a #2 boundary guy, and a #4--Hartline and Gibson replacements. Hartline guy will get 80 targets, and Gibson guy is in for 4-wide sets, red zone.
Miller is a franchise RB, he's a top 5 RB in ypc. Miller ran track, he is super fast, ran 4.4, and Williams ran 4.45 last year. Both are big, can protect, and have a year experience. That is better than most if not all RBs in this year's draft. We don't neeed to waste picks on RBs.
RE: WR....That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard. ANY team could use a franchise receiver. It's about scoring points. 17 total TD's from our top 3 WR's is not going to cut it. Not if you want to make the jump to an elite offense.
Are you seriously going to try and tell me that a Jordy Nelson or DeMaryius Thomas would not greatly benefit this offense? GB and Denver do not run 2 WR, power offenses. No way in hell they are letting those WR's out of town either.
How did that philosophy work out for the Bengals this year? Dalton only threw 19 TD's. 8 fewer than Tannehill.
There was a serious infusion of WR talent into the league last year. It's going to happen again this year. Either keep up or be left behind.
Miller is an adequate back. He improved by leaps and bounds this year and they should have used him more. Williams has shown little in the way of field vision or making plays. He had 122 yards and 3.4 ypc so let's not get too carried away with a 40 time. Neither one were very effective on the goal line.
Personally, I like having a stable of backs. Injuries happen and it's better to keep them fresh. Williams MAY be ok if he improves but he has a lot of work to do.
This is the year to trade up as well. Not 2013! Thanks Jeff...None of the top 12 picks that year have done much. Lane Johnson (who we should have picked) is probably the best one from 1-12.
