So, maybe Tannenbaum was brought in to deal with coaching changes why Hickey concentrates on player acquisitions? Still, doesn't Philbin report directly to Ross?
Until his contract extension is made official I think he gets canned.
Ross has an easy out. His unwillingness to upgrade his staff. He was forced to fire Sherman. You think he would have learned from that but apparently he hasn't.
Tannenbaum was brought in to do the dirty work. And with the new hire coming so late there's a good chance Lazor will stay on.

Ross refused to give either Hickey or Tannenbaum the power to fire Philbin, and I assume that this is because Ross is stubborn. Ross personally hired Philbin (which was a mistake IMO), so if the VP or GM fires Philbin it will prove that Ross knows nothing about choosing a HC.

Its not because he's stubborn.
Its a contractual obligation that he wrote into Philbin's contract when he hired him. For the length of this contract Philbin reports directly to Ross and Ross only.
It doesn't mean that Hickey or Tannenbaum can't go to Ross and convince him to pull the plug, but as long as he's on this contract only Ross can actually fire him.
