One or two top prospects does not make it a strong QB draft. It's about the depth.

You got one guy who climbed to the top because of the bad behavior of the actual top prospect.

Two QB's in the first round is not even close to a strong draft.

If that happens (and it very likely could) it would be, IMO, because Winston is more pro ready. It is rumored that Mariota will probably sit for a while.

After last nights a$$ kicking I don't see Mariota as the first qb taken.

Herbstreit made an interesting comment on a 3rd and 9 play. He said their system isn't designed to make these plays.

What? The system? What about the potential #1 overall pick making the play.

In those situations you have to feel confident that your QB is going to make a play to pick up 10. That's where I believe Tannehill fails and that's the leap he needs to make next year.

You can't rely on the "system" to pick that up. You have to make something happen. Make a tight throw. Keep a play alive. That's the "it" factor that's missing in Miami.

There were 2 easy drops early in the game on 3rd down. Mariota did his job, AND he was missing 3 of his top targets from the game.

I agree. If I'm Licht, I'm trying like hell to trade that pick for a bundle...or I'm taking Leonard Williams.

I think they easily take Winston.

FSU QB goes the FL team. Big news, big $$$

That kid could play today.

Now if they were not a FL team I would trying to get out of that pick fast.

That's over-reaction. Ohio State won that game on brute strength. They had cavemen running backs that took the game back to the 1950's and Jim Brown and Oregon could not stop it.

They had a monster size QB who muscled his way when the running backs didn't.

Oregon was playing 2014 football against a 1956 football team and lost.

But for an NFl team who should draft a QB to pass on Mariota because of that one game may cost a GM his job.

That isn't over reaction. Mariota will face much better Ds at the next level and will have to be able to make more than one read. he'll also have to be able to throw an out pattern.

He's successful in an up tempo offense. He's a nice little college QB.

The heisman trophy winner and potential #1 overall pick should have to rely on the system to pick up a 3rd and 9. The coach should feel comfortable putting the ball in his heisman winning QBs hands and expect him to make a play.

He was handed 4 gift wrapped turnovers and couldn't do anything with them. once in the red zone he was a completely different QB. no more open spaces. that's when you need to make an NFL throw. He didn't and their high octane offense scored 20. I don't care what the stat sheet says, that's on the guy they hyped up for 11 days leading up to the game.

Really? You could have fooled me with that post, FELLOW TROLL (because if I'm one then you are too).

And by the way, "projecting" is a term that means that another person says that you feel a certain way when it reality, it is their own true feelings that you are saying the other person really feels.

So if I believe that Mariota is a great QB, which I feel, and in response to your argument that he is crappy, I defend him, how am I PROJECTING my feelings on to you?

Just realized that Mariota hasn't even declared yet. he is actually thinking about returning to Oregon. Deadline is tomorrow.

That's true, Joe. He basically said that he doesn't like leaving on a losing note. (The Natl Championship Game).

I think it's foolish. You strike when the iron is hot.

Who knows what happens tomorrow.

The NFL draft history rolls are full of people who thought they would better their position by waiting another year and they either got injured or worsened their draft value.

It's official now, he'd of been a fool to not come out this year, it's a weak QB class and he's guaranteed of a top 10 pick, next years class is supposed to be better and who knows where he would of been picked

So weak Uncle Rico might be the 4th or 5th QB taken.........

Okay, so the Marino, Elway, Boomer class was better. And the RGIII, Tanny, Luck, Foles, Cousins Class was better (Didn't mention Russell because he was not highly projected).

Now, holic, give me those excellent QB classes (and there have to be a lot of them you can mention because you say this is a "WEAK" class) that have been better almost every other year to render THIS class a weak class.

So logically, you are bound by your own words to give me a lot of those classes.

Lets look at last year.

Blake Bortles
Johnny Manziel T
Teddy Bridgewater
Derek Carr
Jimmy Garoppolo

So JUST AS AN EXAMPLE, is this class stronger than

Marcus Mariota
Jameis Winston
and possibly Bret Hundley
Cody Kessler

I don't THINK so.

But maybe to you, if it's not Marino's class or Tanny's class, they ALL ARE WEAK????

You can add 99 and 03 as well.

You can compare it to past classes. It's about the projection of the class, not the accomplishments. All you have to do is look at how many first round QB's were drafted in any given year and compare how many are projected to go in the first round this year. If it's more thAn 2 thEn this class is weaker.

so again I ask, if he slides to the Dolphins do they pick him? Would you pick him?

Pick who? Mariota or Winston? My answer to both is no, too many other holes to fill to take a risk like that, Tannehill has made enough progress to see what he does with a better team around him, if he sinks we'll be in a much better position to draft his replacement next year when it's supposed to be a better QB class and we'll have a new coaching staff (again, this being based on if he sinks). If keeps making progress next year you obviously sign him up long term. I would however take a QB in the 4th or 5th (or lower) rounds this year and as a cheaper backup and maybe a guy that develops into starter material just in case.

I think they are going 1 and 2.

Taking a qb in this draft prior to the 4th or 5th round is a terrible waste of resources.

There is way too much crab and lobster in Miami. We can't afford the risk!
