1. Tanne is making great strides and a new system would be a set back. This system has nothing to do with Failbum, it's Lazor! Funny how Failbum throws Tanne under a bus this season and now his job is saved bacause of him.
2. The playoff field will expand by one team in each conference next year...so Ross figures 9 wins can get us in and figures that we can do that next year...I would argue that this team would have failed to make playoffs last year and this year even with one more spot!
of those 37 posts this is the 37th time you have made that comment..get off my back stalker!...im just making comments about Dolphins football which this forum is designed for...unlike your annoying replies!

Its also the first one where he said something worthwhile.
Lazor and this offense are precisely the single best reason for keeping Philbin.
Continuity matters in the NFL. And the chances a new HC was going to keep Lazor were pretty slim.
And the extra playoff spot will have a lot of teams "in it" until the last week of the season.

Now that's the stupidest thing you've ever said. That's a reason for keeping Lazor but it is no reason for keeping Philbin. Quote this NCFishfan because this pompous buffoon has me blocked and won't see it otherwise.

Did it ever occur to you Chyren that a new HC would demand the right to hire his own coordinators? Very rare that a OC or DC survives a regime change.

And if you meant that by Philbin being fired, we would lose Lazor as well, then it is certainly worth the price of not losing games because WE CALL TIMEOUTS TO ALLOW OPPOSING QUARTERBACKS THE TIME TO SCORE THE WINNING TOUCHDOWN WITH ONLY SIX SECONDS LEFT ON THE CLOCK!!!!!! And let there be no mistake about it that I am blaming Philbin for that and not Lazor but losing a good OC like Lazor is a price I am willing to pay to get rid of that KNUCKLEHEAD (you know why they call it knucklehead? because a knuckle his hard) LIKE JOE PHILBIN.
I like the idea of expanding the playoffs by 2 teams... The last couple spots are always a close tie with several teams, that are decided by 2nd and 3rd degree tie breakers.. Meaning there isn't much difference between 7,8, 9 and 10... So it makes sense, at least to me...

Chryen-I imagine they will do it like they did it before when they had a 10 team play off system, but who knows, exactly... I just like the idea of a couple extra teams being in the system, one way or another...

Expand to 12, I assume. So ten teams play the first week, thus reducing to four with two in reserve and then those four teams (two in each conference) play each other the second week thus reducing to two in each conference with the other two still in reserve then those two in each conference NOT in reserve will play in the third week producing the two teams that will play the two top seeds teams that have been in reserve in the fourth week, producing the two SuperBowl contestants to play in the fifth week.
Thus the season would be 12 regular games plus 5 post season weeks.
Wow! That's pretty long thus raising the consideration that the ultimate champ might just be the team that suffers the fewest critical injuries.
I know that the same thing with the regular season and the present playoff system but it increases the chances even more.
Not sure I like it.
Also another consideration is that under the present rules, any playoff participant team must draft after the non-playoff teams. But to participate in this expanded playoff system, if past records are any judge, the difference between playoff and non-playoff teams is usually one game at best and more likely, rules of elimination.
A team might actually end up being UN-lucky in making the playoffs, not only to lose in the first round but as well to lose a draft spot to a rival in the same division with the same record and maybe with the same player draft needs.

What they are talking about is adding one playoff team to each conference.
its not a big deal.
All it does is add one extra playoff game in the wild card round in each conference.
you'll have 4 division winners and 3 wild cards. The top record gets a bye (intead of the top two.
You probably get rid of home games for division winners and seed based on record.

Maybe I am just being selfish Berk. We have been a borderline team for making the playoffs the last couple years, a couple more teams, just makes it that much more attainable for us... That being said they use to have a 12 team playoff system in the past with less teams in the league, so why not 10 with 32 teams... I don't think it makes the regular season less meaningful.. The cream will still rise to the top either way IMO... Hell look at the NBA play offs, it seems to last forever, and is more exciting for more of the markets... Not just the top couple of teams...

The way it is now, there are too many teams. We just watched the ugliest wild card weekend. 9-7, 7-9 teams do not belong. Yeah yeah, tell that to the Giants! But, Giants should not have been in those playoffs at 9-7. I'm not a fan of a team squeeking in after a mediocre season.
Philbin got you the QB, something no one has done since Shula in 84, so it's time to start respecting the coach.

I want to make the playoffs because we are a good team, not because they expanded the field. if we made the playoffs this year somehow it would end up being a blowout for us. I'd rather miss the playoffs then make it but not be deserving.

And every playoff team automatically drafts AFTER every non-playoff team.
We might get into the playoffs some year. Be eliminated in the first round and then lose out on a certain guy that we would have been able to draft otherwise.
