Joe just pointed out you mentioned our needs but forgot to mention the LB position.

And thats one of our bigger needs.

Overall our LB position is one of the weakest position on this team.

We have needs everywhere and the LB is on top of the biggest needs of this team.

Zach thomas had always the most tackles on this team why?

Because the DTs and DEns just clogged the middle without making the tackle but zach covered for them. And thats exctly what our current DTs do.....But since our LB position whos made of sweeze cheese in 2014 cant make the tackles because they stink,,,is the reason why we are one of the worst teams stopping the run.

Sorry buddy but thats the way it is...

I bet you some safety or CB leads the team in tackles in 2014.

This team has to have pound for pound one of the worst if not the worst LB position in the NFL.

Answer: Agreed we do not have any LBs making big plays. All they do is miss tackles left and right.

Jelani Jenkins is way ahead of the pack, Misi would be up there if not for all the time missed due to inj IMO. I think your perception is still from last year Sam, the LB's aren't great but they're not as bad as last year either

Prove it. You offer nothing but opinions. I offered facts that you just ignore.

Another opinion but no evidence or facts to back it up. Hell anyone can do that. Let me try it....

Peyton Manning is the worst Qb of all time!

Does that make it true or make anyone believe it?

Oh brother. That doesn't even make sense. you're saying DE's and DT's don't ever make plays, they just occupy blockers? drinking smiley

They do make plays....Come on joe......I didnt say they dont make tackles.....Well except this jets game where the jets run it for like 500 yards....And every other game where I believe we are one of the worst teams stopping the run.

THE Dt position needs to be addressed but The LB position needs to be addressed as well.

I wouldnt mind if we traded up next year and drafted the best available LB in the draft.

I think we could get one later in the 1st if they were so inclined. There are several with 1st round grades and I've haven't seen more than a couple go in the first round for many years.

Denzel Perrymen 6'0 242
Eric Kendricks, 6'0 230
Benardrick McKinney 6'5 250

If I'm trading up its for a guy like DT, Leonard Williams, USC but I wouldn't trade up. He is mocked to go #1 overall.

I am not a fan of trading up most years. Play makers can be had at any spot. You just have to identify them.

If we stay put we could look at Eddie Goldman, DT FSU or Danny Shelton, DT Was.

I would go with the big bodied guy to play 1-tech. Shelton is 6'2 340 and has 7.5 sacks.

I think your expectations are just a bit too high. Not every team has a Zach Thomas and to tell you the truth. There are less than a hand full of stud 4-3 MLB's in the entire league right now. Huge shortage.

Jenkins has 95 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 FF, 1 PD and has only allowed opposing QB's a rating of 88.6 in coverage. That ranks him 9th in the NFL.

He needs to work on the fundamentals to fix the missed tackle issue just as the rest of the defense needs to do but he is a bright spot on what has been our Achilles heel.

No offense but you have stepped off the deep end if you think he is the problem. Scrub? pulease!

We're gonna be in a good spot this year with just enough needs, but none too glaring that we have to trade up to fill one. We can comfortably sit back and see what falls to us, OL/DT/DE/WR/TE/CB/LB, etc.

I'm anxious to see if Dion Sims can keep building and give us a viable option at TE. They may as well put Clay on the shlef for as much as he is producing & struggling with the knee/hamstring. See if he can get healthy if we make the playoffs.

Joe, wheeler might not be the biggest problem but he isnt the solution either.

Ive see him miss too many tackles both last year and this year.

Oh. My mistake. You said Wheeler. I gave numbers for Jenkins.

Wheeler is playing well too. He comes off the field on passing dwons but you have not seen him miss tackles this year. He has only missed one tackle. Last year was a completely different story. he was playing weak side LB where Jenkins is this year. Bad fit in 2013.

Yes that is what I was referencing... Normally they are pretty good, but when I crossed checked it with rotoworld the numbers were different.. I also saw different old articles that quoted different guaranteed numbers for Mitchell... So I am not
Sure what is exactly what... But over that cap defintely seems to be way off...

You guys are arguing two sides of the same problem. Either way they end up going, DT or LB, one will improve how the other looks. Coming from me, a guy who played DT as a 1 technique guy in Div II for 4 years, I can tell you that if I didn't do my job, my LB'ers looked bad. Same vice versa. If this team is having problems stopping the run and the numbers say that our missed tackles by LB is around league average, then I'd say go with a big bodied DT. Your existing LB core will look like a transformed group if you put a playmaking DT in there. It's just how run defense works.

I think DB will be a big need next year. I love Grimes, but he is getting up there in age. The other side is injury city right now. A new young star would be great there.

I could see getting a DT too.

Bowens was a beast, Thomas used to praise him all the time about how Bowens made his job easier. Oddly I'm not sure Bowens ever made the Pro Bowl

There as an article my dave berry that had input from various "Experts" they mentioned that our DT's were average at best.

Supports your claim

I believe DolhinRev stated that a couple weeks ago
