Injuries are piling up no doubt. But I still have to shake my head.
-Ellerbe went out 1st game of season. Going into week 11 we had a top 5 run defense. Wake has VANISHED the last 3 games...VANISHED!
-Moreno went out what? 3rd game? Before the Denver game our rushing offense was ranked 4th.
I guess we can blame the offense woes on Albert, the OLine was gelling fairly well before that IMO. But the sudden ineptness on D?? I just don't get it...
What a sloppy mess last night, but at least we came away with a W. They need to get tighter playing the Ravens this coming week, hopefully they come away with another W. I see it as winning 3 of our next 4

Our issues on defense are two. fold:
Versus the run its our DT's. They are undersized and they a wearing down after 12 games. In a 4-3 scheme your run defense starts and ends with your DT's. They either occupy enough blockers to leave your LB's free to fill gaps and make tackles or they beat single blocking and make plays themselves. Our DT's are doing neither.
Versus the pass we have two problems. First, with finnegan, Taylor and Davis out we are down to our 5th, 6th and 7th options at cb. There just aren't enough good cb in the league for any team to play consistently great pass defense with guys off the street. Secondly, our DE's seem to be wearing down as well. Wake and Vernon just aren't applying the same pressure they were earlier in the year.
- Ryan Tannehill's completion percentage was over 70% for the fifth straight game, something that even Dan Marino was unable to accomplish in his career as a Dolphin.
The real deal tannehill is the next dolphins qb superstar.
Yet he had a 77 Qb rating. That's why QB ratings are meaningless. The int should not have been thrown but it did hit Miller in both hands before being deflected to the Jert. He was also under pressure.

The int and no tds is the reason for the low rating.

that's great and all but when almost every throw is 5 yards or less it should be.

I know there have been few long passes but also the few long passes that he connects with wallace, he drops...And that was a perfect strike....Would had been a td.
Receivers gotta help him too.
BTW tannehill threw quite a few passes longer than 5 yards yesterday.
An ugly win all right. As others have said, we should have prepared better for the run, with geno not perceived as a passing threat. Yet at the same time our d did not surrender a high number of points.
Ugly win by a win on the road. Vs the jets. Gotta take it.
Tannehill had about the QB rating he deserved IMO. He made some decent throws and played well enough to win...but not lights out or anything close.
The drop by Wallace was ridiculous and ANOTHER reason we need to trade him for a big and/or physical receiver. It looked like he just misjudged it to me.
The INT at the end that sent me to bed was behind the receiver and at his ankles, it was as much on Tannehill as the receiver. Thank GOD the Jets db's can't catch or their would have been two more INT's.
But hey, a MNF win against the hated Jets is good enough for now!
he was 18-20 on passes behind the line to 10 yards. He gained 97 yards on those 18 completions. 5.3yds per.
On passes that traveled over 10 yards he was 7-15 for 138yds.
that's in the herald and I would have posted a link had their site not bogged down my computer.
all i'm saying is that completion percentage is nice and all but doesn't tell the whole story. over 10 yards he was less than 50%. he's going to have to improve in that area. a quick score goes a long way and I think would afford the d to be aggressive more often.
Na, similar to last year would be if we win the next two tough games then lose one or both of the last two easy games.....now that would be like last year!
