Hmm. I wonder why he would sign with another 3-4 team. I thought he wanted to play a 4-3. With Vrabel KC will have a pretty old LB corp. I hope Zach does well, but, unfortunately for him, he won't end his career with a Superbowl.

Zach didn't mind playing the 3-4 at Dallas. And he had maybe his best season ever for us playing primarily in the 3-4. But, he was unhappy with Dallas playing him at SILB, not allowing him the freedom to roam and make all the tackles he was used to making. Maybe KC is going to let him play the WILB.

he signed with them cause he is washed up, has nothing left, and was probably the only offer on the table.

First thing that pops to mind. Old LB with concussion problems. Not a hot market for that.

He signed with them because it is a 90 minute plane ride to Texas.

There is a good chance ZT will play the WILB spot allowing him to roam free and can do what he does best....get to the ball.

DJ has never lived up to potential as a WLB or SLB in a 4-3. He could also be trade bait (FA in 2010). Hali has never been seen as athletic enough to drop in coverage as a 3-4 OLB even though that is what the Chiefs are saying he will do.

DJ was moved to MLB last year and did not impress much. He is good but I doubt they throw money at him to keep him in 010.

Out of college he was touted as a better edge rusher and good in coverage but lacks ability to shed blockers. He is about the same size as Joey Porter.

It sort of makes sense....

SOLB Vrabel
SILB Beisel
WILB Thomas
WOLB Johnson

They could draft Raji and make the transition to 3-4 much smoother or draft Arakpo or Curry and trade Johnson on d-day.

I think Johnson and Glen Dorsey could both be trade bait. Atlanta is one team that could really use Dorsey and he could fetch a first day pick. 6'1 is pretty short to play DE in a 3-4 and he is not a NT.

KC could package both to Atlanta for the 24th pick to make up for the 34th traded to NE for Cassel. Atlanta gets a much needed DT and LB and KC gets a better shot at a player that fits the 3-4 like a DE, ILB or OLB.

It's unlikely, but the KC Chiefs could win the AFC West. If they get that far its only wins to the SB.

The Chiefs have a pretty solid offense...and D should be very improved over last year. I predict a 9-7 season for them.

Yeah, The West is wide open. SD is the favorite but you never know how they are going to do with Norv Turner.

It is pretty weak beyond SD. KC, Oak and Denver who may really suck. KC is in much better shape to improve than Denver and Oakland.

If Cassel is "as advertised" and they can add some good draft picks, they could do pretty well....8 plus wins anyway.

They could deal Dorsey to a DT needy 4-3 team like Atlanta, Detroit or Indy and walk away with players like Crabtree and Laurinaitis, Raji and Oher or Monroe and Nicks. They could also deal Derrick Johnson, Larry Johnson, Tamba Hali or Gonzales and get players that fit their system better. Pioli is a smart guy. I can't say the same for McDaniels.
