Ryan Tannehill is slightly beyond mid-way in his 3rd season at QB. We've all seen him play and improve. If you were a class room teacher with a grading scale of low to high (F,D-,D,D+,C-C,C+,B-,B,B+,A-,A,A+) what overall performance grade would you give him at the QB position right now? I'm adding a poll with all possible grades. This is entirely subjective and open to all registered users.
I grade Tannehill with a B-, though the improvement trend is still pointing upward with him. Year Three is a big leap year but many QBs don't blossom until year 4 or 5. I like everything about Tannehill, except for his struggle with the deep ball. I put some of the blame for this on the coaches for not spending more time with him to fix it.
The deep ball is all mental at this point. It's been made such a big deal of that he is just thinking too much when he does it and not just letting it fly.
He gets a C because he has not lost us any games. His long ball is terrible and his throws are half/half on off target. He has improved and can get us into playoffs. If he keeps up the better play he will earn a B and wins the SB gets the A.
There are parts of his game that are A but also F D B and C. His long passes is a F. His pocket awareness is a C. His wife is an A. His runs are A. His ball placement is a C. His leadership is a B. His durability is a A. His ability to throw over the line without getting his passes batted is a D. So his overall score is a C. It is a rising C but he still can not carry a team like the greats so no way shape or form is he an A.
I gave him a B+. His pocket awareness has improve since the Oakland game where he's finally escaping the pocket.
His deep balls are still horrible but he's excelling with the short to medium range passes. He's managing the game well and he's not a pick 6 machine costing us games.

No because that's like rating two different People. You can't say that a cross between the two is a B because they are two different people and the cross really does not exist.

He has Good mechanics and fundamentals. He is a B plus with the potential to get way better and thats scary to other teams.
The system he plays in is new. Its not easy to learn a new system in just one year.
I say he is doing outstanding in his first year in this system.
Of course he will struggle at times when the OL fails to hold the blocks. And that goes for every other QB.
I agree it's a bumpy ride but I can not help but feel it smoothing out. I hope we feed the rock to Landry a lot Sunday. I want to free up Heartline more because he is a first down machine!
