Man Sam.....what kind of Meds do they have you on? Your a Debbie Downer today. Go hit the casino and cheer up bro.
BTW I never agreed either......but if you told me we would be CONSIDERED as 4th best at this time of the season , ahead of Seattle , I would have put you on ignore. Its just Fun. That's all I'm saying. The phins have respect back. We are IN every game now. That's why I was OK with losing to the Lions.
We are getting there. If Hickey can whip up another magical draft......That's where I'm focused. the Big Picture. Miami and the Superbowl , 2016-17.

I have such a good comeback......but in honor of our 4th ranking , and respect for all here......You get a PASS.
Neil Greenberg has developed a very unique and analytical alternative to the traditional and subjective rankings we always see. I'd love to know more about how he draws on analytics to derive his rankings. I find it very interesting! By Neil's methodology, which he applies equally to all teams, the Dolphins are #4.
Statistics always need a footnote. Lots of things are never taken into consideration.
E.G. A team that has the largest paid attendance isn't the best team, it could be, maybe it has cheap seats, maybe giveaways, attractive half time performances, Air Force flyovers, a great national anthem singer....
20 carries 100 yds = 5 yards per carry seems good but may not tell the whole story that 2 runs resulted in turnovers and 14 points going the opposite way.
It's all in the small details that may or may not be included.

A couple reasons, we are a team on the rise... Also 2 of our losses came against highly ranked teams in the other conference and were both hard fought games lost on the last possession.. We also beat the Patriots who are near the top of the AFC... Honestly I don't care where we are power ranked or ranked in any manner until it comes to week 16 and our true play off ranking... Other then that it is all just smoke and mirrors IMO...
I remember reading just before the start of the season, Profootball talk had us ranked #31 in their power rankings... Didn't care then, don't care now.... Lets just win next week and take that philosophy every week until the season ends...

Power rankings are nothing more then opinions of the person or group putting together the rankings, that is why... If you think a team is coming together and playing well at a given time, you can have the perspective to rank them higher then there actual rankings or records.. Also your record can depend on who you played, where, when, health of your team etc... Lets take the Patriots, we beat them in our head to head match up and 2 of our losses are against teams the Patriots have yet to play... So it is hard to have a straight up comparison of which team is better in a power ranking format..Yet on an actual record ranking they are better at this point... That is why power ranking are subjective and different then actual record rankings midseason...

I'm guessing the best schools in some conferences are not really........they just play less talented teams.
Take the 6-4 Colts for example, they get to play Jacksonville, Tennessee and Houston twice each as oppossed to us having to play the Pats and Bills 4 times, plus the always tough (for us anyway) Jets twice. Big difference

I'm just saying that the writer could be considering SOS in these meaningless rankings. As well as strength of victory.

Got ya, it is hard to figure out where some of these guys are coming from with the power rankings... For instance Washington Post has us 4th and ESPN has us 15th... I think we are probably somewhere in the middle of the 2... The Washington Post is hard to understand with Green Bay who beat us and has a better record then us being power ranked behind us...

Of all the teams we've lost to, only the Bills (whom we split with) are not playoff contenders right now. KC, Green Bay, and Detroit would ALL be in the playoffs if the season ended today. So, we're doing something good teams do...we're winning the games we're supposed to win!
