Hello all, well first let me say what a great win that game was. Still lots to work on and much room for improvement. What impressed me the most was that this team finally has grown a set of balls and didnt quit like they did in so many past years. But now to my topic, does anyone know what Dan is actually advising on? Im hoping he can tell the coaches certain players suck or dont lol. I also wouldnt mind him getting in the wr ears and tanny's.

Dan Marino could be a huge influence on Ryan Tannehill.

To have someone of this nature thats been through it all , has been injured, played for so many years and knows what it takes to be great is a blessing.

Tannehill is blessed.

Let the coaches do their jobs w/ Tanne. Don't want to many voices in the guys heads including the great Dan. Dan could be a point man for the community, local and state government etc.

I love Dan Marino. Named my oldest after him. But....he never helped one player since 2000. He was a decent commentator criticizing players, but never ever a coach. A mentor. The Networks see him as tainted now that he has a love child so he got canned. Now he's back at the only place that will really have him. Its where he belongs and its 15 yrs too late IMO. But if you think he's going to sprinkle some magical Ju Ju on Tannehill your nuts. If he had any he would have done it yrs ago. Still waiting on his Job description besides "advisior". eye rolling smiley Maybe he "advised the Dolphins to kick New Englands Ass!? tongue sticking out smiley

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I doubt the love child had anything to do with it.

Honestly, I can't imagine Marino not talking with Tannehill and all offensive players. Despite what many may think or believe about his personal life, and his jumping ship from the organization years earlier, he still is one of the best QBs to put on a uniform. And fortunately for us, it was a Dolphins' uniform.

Think about this. A quarterback thinks QB. His thoughts about football are always from that position. He assesses things from his own experiences--good or bad. To think Marino, one of the very best, won't discuss things with Tannehill is unrealistic. Marino will talk QB and you can put money on the fact that Ross will see to it that Marino tutors our young aspiring QB. Any knowledge Marino imparts to Tannehill will be well received. It's no different than when a baseball great like Ted Williams showed up at Red Sox training camp or Mantle or Ford went to Yankee spring training. Young guys wanted to hear what they had to say about baseball, about playing, about hitting or pitching. And I'll bet that most of the time, players got something out of it that would help them or inspire them to do better.

We can only hope that whatever suggestions and tips Marino gives Tannehill that Tannehill will become a better QB and more competent leader.

And what is going on with Dan, anyway?

Haven't heard a thing about him since he joined the Fins, except that he was seen at one practice.

To me, Marino was the greatest QB of all time but it was all natural athletic talent.

Elway was more like Griese, a cerebral QB who was a field general in the mode of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

Those latter guys can teach because what they're teaching is knowledge.

You can't teach talent, which is why although I would like to see Dan helping in any capacity, I would not expect his teaching to result in Marino passing clones.

During Marino's final season as a player, he had a nagging injury in his neck, some sort of pinched nerve or something.

When he couldn't play-I recall one game in particular when Dan had to leave the field because he physically could not throw, he was advising and coaching Damon Huard. And Huard did pretty well under Dan's advice, to the point where Dan advocated that Huard take over for him rather than Fiedler. My point is Dan *is* capable of coaching and mentoring another quarterback.

Dans advice to Tannehill; "When Wallace is running really fast, throw it really far"

All back ups carry a clipboard and "help" out who is behind center. That's a far cry from Coaching.......especially since the closest he has come to walking on grass usually at a fancy golf club. Don Shula had a head coach for a son. If Dan Marino wanted to he could have coached anytime he wanted. Sorry........I love him , but what he had you can't teach. And Same goes for Ryan Tannehill.

Ryan Tannehill will never be like Dan Marino. Never ever. The rules have changed and the game is much different now adays anyway. And......I believe Ryan Tannehill will win a championship.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I'm quite aware that all backups carry clipboards and help out. That's not what I'm referring to. When Dan had to leave the field during the game I mentioned, he didn't say "okay I'm the backup now, let me get my clipboard and help out." He was advising, pointing, yelling, screaming at Huard from the sidelines, and on the bench between series etc. During that one game, Dan was a quarterback coach.

But, it was one game. You're right that he could have easily gotten a coaching job, especially as a QB coach. and it's quite obvious that he has had no interest in doing that type of work.

I happen to believe he did the right thing by not taking up coaching...as you said, he would have been unable to teach others to play like him.

Time for Dan to step up and show his new found worth to the Dolphins. Do you think Peyton Manning and John (horsebroncojaw) Elway would have put up with Coach John Fox quitting on the team and publically stating that quitting to go to the locker room is a great strategy!?

Go get'em Dan! Go advise your brains out!!

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I can't imagine that he hasn't said something already. If he hasn't then he's not earning his money.
