The guy is just doing his job. If you commit a crime then you must be prepared to suffer the consequences. The police are very underappreciated. If a cop pulls you over then cooperate to the fullest and you won't have a problem.

One of my best friends is a cop and I am here to tell you there are both good and bad cops out there. Just like anybody else, cops have good days, and cops have bad days. The problem is that when they have bad days you can end up on the receiving end of their irritation. They have to take a lot of garbage off of people and so from time to time they give garbage back. That is the good cops. A bad cop is your worst nightmare!! He holds authority over you and can write you up for just about anything under the sun as long as he finds a way to justify it. I fully agree that most cops are good cops, just pray to God you don't cross a bad one!!

Moats ran the stop and was speeding and did not initially pull over. The officer doesn't know the situation and should never be put in a position to have to trust someone. They are lied to very often and the moment they let their guard down will be the moment they are killed. Just look at what that criminal in Oakland did to those four cops. What angers me most is there are fools calling that thug a hero and marching in the streets protesting. For reasons like that, if you don't cooperate fully then a police officer, as far as I am concerned, should do everything in their power to control you and protect themselves and other citizens.

F the POLICE grinning smiley

They should be out catching pedophiles and not stalking street corners looking to write tickets to make money for their beaurocracy.

What should they be doing, intruding on people's homes and confiscating their computers? Pedophiles are primarily caught either when crimes are reported by parents or schools or online (usually by the FBI). The cops that pull people over for traffic violations are not in a position to go after pedophiles.

Yes I think regular cops should be monitoring sexual predators ultizing registered addresses. This can be accomplished by working with their parole office and doing a drive-by, regularly. And no I dont think sex offenders have the rights that the rest of us have regarding our computer activity, YEAH I THINK we should be paying cops to go into the houses of convicted offenders and check their computers.

IMO more resources need to be devoted to someone who would harm a child intentionally instead of someone who could harm a child accidently in a car accident.

And when I said 'F the Police' I was mearly suggesting to the ladies of Phins to reach out the men in blue and do their duty, help the good citizens make it through a yellow light tommorrow.

Let's just say, witchhunts never end well, particularly since there are a number of registered sex offenders that don't really belong on the list. I mean, if an 18-year-old has sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend, does that really constitute child molestation? What about a 14-year-old girl posting nude pictures of herself? Should she really be convicted of trafficking child porn? If we're going to go after these people with such force, we better look at how we are truly classifying them. Otherwise, why not just give them all the death penalty?

most cops are pricks... bottom line. They are mostly people who got picked on and made fun of their entire youth and growing up so now they want to take it out on people and flex their muscles over them. F the POLICE is about right on in my book

OK, a couple of points: Police Officers are not bad people and the few that are make up the vast minority. They have a very dangerous job to do and they do it within the dictates of the law day in and day out without regard for outside circumstances. Most people think that they SHOULD be allowed to commit crimes, and violations that they themselves rationalize as harmless...simply because they think they are harmless. The law decides what is harmless, not the individuals. We elect officials and condone the appointment of judges in order to ensure that this process works because we simply can't be bothered with such mundane details in our private lives...after all we each have many better things to do each day, don't we? I happen to know quite a few police officers and am personally a shift supervisor for my department. Agencies do routinely police their own personnel and they do weed out the undesirable people...in fact most of them never make it out of the field training program or get off of probation. I can't count the amount of police officers that I have written up formally for rules infractions and I have many peers that have done the same. Police officers do have authority over the populace by virtue of their position as well as granted by the laws. Some officers do exceed that authority form time to time and I certainly don't condone those actions. However the citizen an officer has just pulled over or has detained has no right whatsoever to resist by either word or deed. The fact is that most problems people have with police officers are brought about by the citizens lack of understanding of the laws and of the actual authority granted to the officer. Most people simply do not know their rights and get put-out when an officer stops them because they don't think they should be inconvenienced

RE: Actually, police officers already do this...and not just for sexual offenders but for criminals that are required by the courts to register at jails.

RE: Police Officers already do this as well...but drive by checks are not their job...that’s the job of Probation Officer. If the Probation Officer requests assistance then officers will assist.

RE: If the Police Officer can establish probable cause and obtain the proper entry documents then they can. Or if the offender allows them to enter and check the computer. Or if the courts have mandated remote access to the computer.

RE: Police resources are being cut all over the country because of a lack of money and budget reorganizing. Traffic enforcement puts money into the city, county budget...more of it will be coming so get used to it. There is not much more that the police can currently do in any event with respect to offenders, sexual or otherwise....policing costs money. Are you willing to pay more in taxes for the added policing?

RE: Except that you are not supposed to go through a yellow light...you are supposed to be slowing down and observing caution in preparation to stop. But the other half of this would be a good thing!!!!!!!

RE: Depends on the circumstances but an 18 year old is committing a crime by having sex with ANYONE under 18...period.

What about a

RE: If she is benefiting monetarily then yes. And yes, you would be a potential sexual offender if you looked at those photos and was over 18 whether you knew she was under age or not.

RE: Law Enforcement does look at this, but point taken and I agree.

Otherwise, why not

RE: One because it does not work...Not that I'm personally against it for certain crimes.

I've (we've) let this go up till now because even though this discussion started off *almost* off-topic, then veered WAY off-topic, it hasn't gotten entirely nasty. yet.

I think we should quit while we're ahead. This topic stopped even REMOTELY being about Miami Dolphins football many posts ago.

Thread closed, let's move on.
