He sucks Just doesn't have the touch or accuracy to play QB in the NFL. What other team, in the modern era, has converted a WR to be a successful NFL QB? The majority of his passes are behind or to the wrong side

Sorry jlyell13 but that is a very weak strawman argument.
Tannehill was a QB who volunteered to play WR to help his college team and then went back to QB.
He is NOT a "converted wr", unless you want to give him credit for being a converted QB and he most certainly was not converted to any position by the Dolphins.
Yes he has accuracy issues. He left a ton of big plays on the field in the first half. Even so, he's pretty good with room to get better. If he doesn't then he'll never get better than pretty good and we'll be looking for better when he wants to get paid.
Brady's TD pass to Gronk was behind him, Gronk had to reach back, plus he over threw one of his WR's for a sure TD, sh*t happens, everyone just blows it up bigger with RT-17 for some reason, and I'm not saying Tanny doesn't have stuff to work on, he's by no means a finished product, but I can think of 3 nice passes that were dropped by his recievers yesterday, one of them being a TD to Sims. I was impressed with RT's pocket awareness yesterday, he threw a couple of passes away instead of taking the sack, that's a huge improvement over last year.
He left 3 tds on the field to Wallace in the 1st half. He has to cash in at least one of those.
Granted, Wallace dropped a 30 yard gain that hit him in the hands, and simms dropped a long TD but the int he threw should have been a TD. The pass Wallace got one foot in bounds in the end zone should have been better and the short post revis broke up to force a fg is a TD if the doesn't throw it to his back hip.
Yes, he was pressing in the first half. The good news is we have a running game and Tannehill doesn't have to carry the offense. This will also open things up for our receivers as well as take pressure off Tannehill. I was hoping to see him on a read option keeper.
The Pats plan was to cover Wallace with Revis and roll coverage to Clay and Hartline. They pretty much shut down Clay and Hartline. It was a good plan and pretty effective.
Not sure where Gibson was....
Wallace/Tannehill were still able to gain 81 yards and a TD against a premier corner.
This game should do a lot as far as confidence building. Not a bad effort by RT against a SB favorite team.
he threw a bad int but also had 2 long tds dropped or out of bounds. any wr making 10mm/yr should have better field awareness. that long pass to Wallace was perfectly thrown. he has to keep his feet in. he hit sims in stride on the hands.

I disagree on that throw. I think the throw forced Wallace out of bounds. It could have been better.

BINGO. That one INT was on him. he knew it. But he threw some beautiful bombs that were just dropped. Not his fault at all. The One in the endzone corner, could have been reeled in . Oh well as Joe says above.....the Run game will open up future options and not every team has Darrel Revis. I feel very very good about Tannehill right now.

I just rewatched the game on NFL rewind condensed.. And RT didn't have a bad game.. He had a lot of drops, by everyone, Clay, Wallace, Sims, etc... Hell he put a deep ball (40 yards or so) right in Dion Sim's hands in the end zone, and Sims dropped it...
He also threw the ball away when he needed to.. I know RT doesn't have impressive stats for this game but without all the drops he probably has 3 TD's and 300 yards or more...
Also when you have someone running like Moreno, you don't need to pass all that much... Bottom line, I don't think he needs to play all much that better... Maybe 2 plays he had were bad plays or bad passes in the whole game, that is pretty good...

He was much better in the 2nd half. He was behind Wallace on 5 or 6 passes int he 1st half.

He definitely could have put the ball in better places at times, but that is also a bit tough to judge, depending on accuracy, timing the receiver ran the route as well as where the coverage might have been coming from... Watching the game again, he took some shots, and the amount of drops jumped out at me.. He made some bad throws, but he played a decent game..
If you watch the press conference, some of what Lazor was upset about was the speed at which things were happening pre snap, was much too slow for what he wants to do and the identity he wants the team to have..
All that being said it was Tannehill's first real game in a brand new system, with an entirely new offensive line who are also in a brand new system.. against the patriots.... I am sure things are going to be a little awkward at times with the offense coming out of the gate...

Nietzsche
Tannehill was 18 of 32. He had 2 throw aways and 3 dropped passes. One for a TD.
Take away those passes and his completion % is 71% and he is 23/32 with 3 TD's and 1 int.
On passes thrown in the air 20 yards or more down field (including drops, etc), he was at 50% completion rate. That ranks him 7th in the NFL.
He was under pressure 33.3% of the time. (10th most in the NFL)
So lets not get to carried away with an aggressive coaches comments. That's his style. He likes to make things hard for the QB. he expects perfection.
Can he get better? Of course. It was one game.
If he had a problem on Sunday it was with play action. His NFL QB rating was 43.8 WITH play action and 104.7 without play action.
Now, play action for this read option offense is a bit different than the typical fake. Total different motion and rhythm. It may take more than one game to get used to it.
Last year in the traditional offense with the standard drop back, fake hand-off to the RB, Tannehill had a QB rating of 109.6 WITH play action and 76.6 WITHOUT play action.
Oh....and no running game to even enhance the fake.
Think about the stance of the QB in this offense in play action. He is almost square to the LOS instead of continuing back in his drop back. Often the RB is moving laterally instead of from behind the QB. Like I said, it's a different rhythm.
