Satele has never been a good player, and his skills have declined bad over the last few seasons. This does not speak well for the talent evaluators of this team or in general for its decision making.
I don't know that I would go that far but he did have a down year. Some believe he was miscast in a power blocking scheme and would do better in a zone system.
He was adequate for us back in the day but often struggled with the bigger 3-4 NT's.
No harm in working him out to see how he moves in a zone. He played well enough for Oakland that it earned him a decent contract with the Colts.
Didn't we excommunicate this guy when we got embarrassed by the Ravens in that playoff game? I just remember Ngata throwing him around like a rag doll! haha. Hopefully, he's gotten better since then. Dolphins were so mad that they straight up traded him for whomever the Raider's Center was straight up!

Wasn't that Raiders' center Jake Grove? Nothing funny about any of that. I didn't think Satele was all that bad, and remember reading that he wanted to be on the west coast to be closer to his relatives in Hawaii....but I guess not, as he went to Indy and now wants to be back here. Nothing wrong with taking a look at the guy.
Satele was traded to Oakland for a 6th round pick and a swap of 4th rounders. Jake Grove was signed as a FA. That's the good news. The bad news is that we selected Satele in the 2nd round with the pick we got for Wes Welker. That and the fact that Grove started 10 games for Miami after signing a five-year, $29 million contract...($14.5 million guaranteed).
