Assuming we stay at 19, which player, if we took him, would it piss you off that we selected?
IMO, I'd be pissed if we took Cyrus Kuanjo (sp). By all accounts he's an injury prone "project" who rates much lower than 19 overall. Not a plug an play kind of guy, though maybe he's got a higher ceiling than say a Morgan Moses or J James. I am done taking injured projects in the first, and reaching to get them. If we do take OT at 19 (assuming Martin does not unexpectedly fall), we'd be passing over higher rated prospects at other positions we could also use (WR, LB, D so if we did that we'd need an immediate started with very low bust potential---and Cyrus is not that.

Yeah...I see mixed rankings on him.

McShay has Moses ahead of Zach Martin and Mayock has Moses ranked at 47 and James at 60.

It's a crap shoot at this point but I don't see Hickey reaching for anyone.

I think Cyrus comes in and locks down the RT position. He wasn't just good he was dominating at Al. I saw games where he owned the DE. Yep he had a bad day against Auburn but that was one game. Martin is good and may have to slide to G to be pro bowl in the nfl but I would not be disappointed if we got Cyrus.

I never saw anyone describe him as a project.

I think I will be pissed off if the team does not trade down out of 19th. My dream would be to trade down to mid 20's get a second round then trade out of first for next years first and second from a team.

that would be a dream. if we traded down to the mid 20s we'd get a 3d at best, no way we get a 2d. but I would do that in a heartbeat if we could

The list of college LT's that struggled/failed at RT in the NFL is HUGE.

I agree JoeFootball. That would make guys like Morgan Moses and J James good choices at RT. DJ Fluker was criticized somewhat coming out as being "just" a RT, but he stepped in on day one an dominated. Meanwhile the #1 and #2 overall picks were LTs that plated RT last year, and were not so great.

Remember the last LT we tried to make a RT. I think his name was Jonny Martin.

I don't know about Moses. I read he struggled as a RT. He also has problems with weight, is flabby and not athletic for a zone scheme.

Problem is that most of the top linemen this year were LT's in college except for James.

Bitonio, Lewan, Su' A-filo, Kouandjio, Robinson even Martin were LT's.

if we had to "reach" for a RT, I could live with James, but would much prefer moving down a few spots and taking him, and getting an extra 3d if at all possible

I really don't want Cyrus--he stuggled badly at the end of last year, has injury questions (despite what his doctor's PR said), and would be learning a new positon at RT. recipie for disaster IMO. At RT I don't care about "upside," we need a competent NFL starter on day 1.

He struggled in two games back to back (Auburn and OK) as far as I know and that was at the end of the season and it really sticks in everyone's mind. Then had a terrible combine.

We're talking a few bad outings in something like 34 games. He was awesome in his first two years. Especially in run blocking. 6'7 325 lbs and 16% body fat.

I wouldn't take him at 19 but at the bottom of 1 or in round 2 I would think about it depending on who else was available. I would not reach for anyone.

Yup. It's nearly as long as the list of college RT's who failed as RT's in the NFL and had to move to OG.
