I saw that yesterday. I have to say that I'm torn on this guy.
After his Soph year I thought he'd probably be able to play LT at a high level in the NFL with another year or two of development.
But his junior year was a step back. He did have a knee injury, which may have been the problem. If he's 100% he's at least going to be a good RT in the NFL. If he's not, he won't be around long.
Two things in his favor besides playing hurt last year:
1) He doesn't turn 21 until July so you would think there is room for improvement.
2) Dr. James Andrews says his knee 100% and not a concern going forward.
That said, I could live with him in the 2nd, or if we traded down in the 1st, but I'm not going to be thrilled if we take him at 19.
In the end, this is all probably pre-draft smoke. Hickey has been around for a long time. Until he proves otherwise, I'm going to give him credit for not being a moron and telling the press what players he really likes and dislikes.
I don't buy it with out first pick. if we go OL we need a plug and play starter and not a developmental guy with injuries and possible upside. I could see him in the 2d round if he is there and we double up on OL taking a Zach Martin type in the first

It better be just pre-draft smoke. I'd like to hope that Hickey is smart enough to keep his draft preferences under wraps until it comes time to make the pick.

You're just mad because when you saw the name of the post, you opened it up thinking it was gonna be about the (not so new) logo.........
Lots of smoke being blown. Its obvious we need a stud O lineman who can start yesterday. But if we miss out on the Top prospects by #17 I'm cool with a few second tier lineman in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. But I would expect a major impact player on defense then. We need to shure up that run defense. Its pathetic. The Bills are still laughing at us.
I was down on him after I saw the Sugar Bowl game. He was beaten badly by a MUCH smaller speed rusher in Erik Striker. The guy is basically a strong safety.
Obviously this is all draft smoke. No way anyone knows who we are drafting. Maybe if I see some firings in the head office this week I may believe it but...
Kujo has talent and could be a road grader on the right side. The importance of right tackle is much greater than it used to be with the addition of better pass rushers on the strong side (ala Cameron Wake, etc).
Not sure he will be taken at 19 or is even worthy of 19. I am curious to see how this falls and I wonder how Joel Bitonio fits...Mayocks 5th best tackle but may project inside like Zach Martin.
I also wonder if Xavier Su'a-Filo can play RT. He has the length for it and is pretty athletic. Same arm length and size of Jake Mathews.
I don't think Jordan is a project. We just need to play him. You don't need to learn how to rush the passer and he's got the innate skill (supposedly)
I do think if we take an OL #1 he needs to be a plug and play guy, if we take a guy like Filo it better be to stick him at guard for day and and for the next 10 yrs. Has he ever played another position?
blast from the past for your hard core old timers---remember when we drafted OL Eddie Earthquake Blake in the high second round with the plan to play him at DT (where he'd never played before)? We made bonehead moves even under Shula.....

I read somewhere that he's played both LT and RT in college.

Jordan is anything but a project. He's not a finished product by any stretch, but he's not a project. He's just a guy who missed out on most of our off-season due to his school's graduation date (stupid rule) and wasn't NFL ready strength wise because he was coming off an injury and he was leaving college early.
He didn't play much last year for those reasons AND because the two guys ahead of him on the depth chart were playing at a pro bowl level.
Get him healthy, put 10-20 lbs of muscle on him, and let him learn the play book and he'll be a monster.

I would not mind Cujo especially when considering some of the other options that may be available. If he is better than Fluker then it is a no-brainer.
