I know a few of you fine gentlemen are from the Boston area and was hoping to get help with something. I am traveling to Boston in May for a Redsox game. Does anyone know of any decent priced hotels within walking distance of fenway?
I do not know the area at all. I was up there a few years ago but that was for 1 night and I had a little to drink. Please help a fellow phinatic and point me in the right direction.
BTW I am not a Redsox fan. My buddy is and it is for his bday. Thanks in advance
I moved away from the area in 2000 but I know around that time they were putting in a big new hotel on Comm Ave just a 10 min walk to Fenway that is likely operational now, right near where I lived. Right by the Green Line/Kenmore Square on the T.
Don't know the name but you can probably find it if you google. It's is a great area near Fenway and if you stay there there's a ton of bars and stuff to do, big college area.

I live in the Boston area. I believe the hotel that Berk is referring to is called the Hotel Commonwealth. It is very close to the park. Probably a very popular place. It has a popular restaurant/bar in it called Eastern Standard
Even closer to the park is Hotel Buckminster---but....the Buckminster has a reputation of being a dump. I hear it was renovated not too long ago, so it may be better these days, but I don't know anyone who's ever stayed there.
There is one thing to know about Boston. "Decent Priced Hotel" and "Boston" generally don't belong in the same sentence. The average rate is expensive. They've even built a few large hotels elsewhere in town recently but we also have more tourist traffic lately (big new-ish convention center got built). And to make things worse, College Graduation Season is in May. I hope your visit does not coincide with any of the bigger schools' commencement ceremonies, because the relatives all come to town and fill up the hotel rooms when that happens.
If you go down Beacon street from the Fenway area, it's a bit of a walk but not horrendous, you'll eventually get to a neighborhood called Coolidge Corner. There's a Marriott-Courtyard hotel there, and also a Holiday Inn (which is a nice one, as Holiday Inns go). These aren't going to be discount hotels either. There is also a "Green C-line" subway-turning into a trolley that goes from very-near-Fenway-Park right down Beacon Street, costs a couple bucks to ride.
Just did a search and realized there is another (new) Marriott on Brookline Avenue, an area that has had some new construction lately.
And by the way I AM a red sox fan...have been since before I ever set foot in Boston (there was no baseball team in Miami when I was a kid growing up there). Tell your buddy I said happy Birthday!
Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
JC you are the man. Thanks so much for your help. I will do some research today and hopefully find a place.
Being a military brat and also serving my time, I don't have a certian town I root for. I have always been a phin fan since I can remember but when it comes to baseball I am a tribe fan thru and thru. A Carolina Hurricanes fan in hockey as well. I jump all over the place but that is cause I don't really have a place I have lived in for over 5+ years till now.
