Good movie that was filled with Hollywood moments. Not very realistic , but I enjoyed it. However.......After the movie and during the credits at the end they showed stills of REAL NFL players. Guess who was the first QB shown during the credits?
That's right......#17 Ryan Tannehill.
I might be looking to much into it , fine.
But all during the movie they made references to great QB's like Marino, Elway , Manning , and of course , Montana. The whole movie seemed to focus on the underlying message of the "Under Dog".
I found it particularly interesting that they showed A Nice Close up of Ryan Tannehill as soon as the credits Roll. I looked right at my boys and high fived them. Our focus has to be on building a Team around this guy. We have seen his strength's and weaknesses. Now we need to get him guys that will get him to the next leval and compliment him. Block for him . Run for him. Actually catch the ball when he hits you in the numbers. His best play IMO is his bootleg. When he rolls out he is deadly throwing on the run. Once we get a coach to Tap into Ryan's strengths Miami is going to be great again. Even HOLLYWOOD gets it.

To be really really fair...........Dan had a Superbowl caliber team to throw to. Ryan didn't.
Most passing yards in a rookie season, 2012 (3,294 yards)
Most passing completions in a rookie season, 2012 (282)
Most passing attempts in a rookie season, 2012 (504)
How many rookie QBs has Miami had over the years that have started 16 games in their rookie season? Not many. Any?
Dan only started 9 games. You extrapolate that out to 16 games and Tannehill is an also-ran.
Forget about Duper and Clayton, Dan could get the ball exactly where it needed to be. Dan made the Marx brothers.
We'll never know for sure but, I feel safe in saying Mike Wallace would be pro-bowl with Dan throwing to him.

Dan took over a team that went to the Super Bowl the year before with David Woodley at QB.
That's no knock on Dan, but you can't compare his situation to what RT has had to deal with in his first two.
And yes, Marino would have loved to have hand another WR like Mike Wallace He already had one in Mark Duper.
Was the movie an enjoyable football movie or a typical cheesy Kevin Cosner film, at least his films as of late? Should I wait until it comes out on DVD? Should I buy it when it comes out or just rent it? You know, a watch it once type of movie? I think the concept is cool but it has cheese fest written all over it......

To be honest it was slightly cheesy, I don't think its worth seeing more then once, but definitely worth seeing once. No where near the greatness of say , Jerry Maguire (Show me the money!) but it was enjoyable afternoon. You could waste 2 hrs elsewhere much worse. Buy $19 ?....Not in my opinion $1 Red Box? Definitely!!

LOL. So we haven't had a decent Rookie in 47 yrs is what your saying? What does that tell you about Ryan Tannehill? Kid played wide receiver in college. Came here and was just thrown to the wolves with the worst O line in History. Shitty coaching. And he still puts up the best numbers in franchise history. And yet you complain? Geez Louise.
I'm not complaining Treasure. I'm adding the perspective that you omitted. In a race of one the kid is going to come out first every time, or last, depending on if you are the glass half full or half empty kind of guy. Or as Truth pointed out, QB stats are meaningless anyway since there are way too many variables involved.
I am truly rooting for Tannehill to succeed but, so far we are seeing a ton of potential but the results have fallen short.
Before he was drafted a lot of posters here were convinced that an elite QB makes everybody around them play better. Well, the results were underwhelming. After year one all he needed was more weapons. Wish granted to the tune of 140 million dollars and all we did was move on to the next excuse, the worst o-line in the history of the Federation.
With new coaches in place we can hope that the o-line play moves in the right direction this season and Tannehill's development proceeds
My frustration stems from the way the past two seasons have ended. Two seasons ago I believe it was losing 3 of the last 4 with a total shut-out at NE. Last season was an even worse plop with the way we lost the last two and missed the play-offs in a really weak conference.
This year we are ALL hoping for the best but, on the sidelines we still have a glaring question mark.
Like I said he hardly played in college. After Two seasons he is just about where a Rookie should be. His potential is untapped. Guy has had no help and he still managed almost 4000 YDs last season! If I told you we would have a 4000 Yd QB 3-4 seasons ago you would have shit yourself at the prospect. Tannehill did not let this team down. I cant remember how many balls were dropped. How many times he was rushed into making a bad pass. Kid has so much to offer I just can't understand anything BUT a glass is half full analogy.

I just saw the movie. the football stuff was totally unrealistic. the moves the GMs from the teams involved made were so ridiculous each one would have been fired on the spot for making them. my wife finally got annoyed at me as I kept telling her how stupid these moves were as the movie unfolded. You would probably enjoy it more if you didn't know anything about how the draft works. my wife liked it, mostly for the chick flick aspects.
I'd wait for the rental.
