Was top rated corner until week 7 of 2012 then tailed WAY off with negative grades over the next 12 weeks (2 season) and then missed 3 games then 3 negative games then was out for season.
Maybe Hickey knows something....we'll see. if he's right we could have a pretty good secondary.
WOW, Finnegan better be good or we cut him before the season for that cost,,,
We surely are not getting younger as a team anymore with Hickey...... Finnegan got benched last year even at his huge salary to the Rams, that scares me about the guy...

It all depends on how much 11 million is guaranteed. I suppose there was some who bitched when we signed Grimes last year as well. I like the Smith signing alot
I don't remember anyone bitching about Grimes? He was praised right from the first day of training camp as elite..... Whether he could stay healthy was really the only questioning of him I remember..
I am also glad we signed a guard but don't know too much about how good Smith is?

I'm sure it has a clause that says contract is voidable if not in the roster after July 1st or whatever. No guaranteed money unless on the roster for week 1.
I read that Finnegan negotiated his deal on his own with out an agent... So lets, see the details... I doubt the deal he got is anywhere near as good as it sounds on the surface... If it is, he just set himself up for his next career as an agent...
I imagine the guaranteed money and first year money is small unless he is healthy and starts a majority of the games... Other wise on paper Carroll for 2 years and 5 million seems like a much better way to have gone... For that cheap we should have kept him.. He was a great number 3 and a decent number 2 vs most competition.. We are not sure what we got with Finnegan and if we even have a decent number 2 on the roster at this point, forget about depth...

I mentioned in an earlier post that I would sign Finnegan, but only at a dirt-cheap rate...2 years at $11M is not dirt-cheap. This guy is 30 years old, with the two previous seasons rated very poorly, and last year on injured reserve, where when he did play, he was rated the second worst CB in the NFL. If he comes back from the injuries and plays like he did during his pro bowl years, then he can be considered a steal.
BTW: Carroll is much younger and is an up-and-coming CB, and signed for less than Finnegan.
Smith? Signed a pretty decent contract, but is not really penciled in as a starter. Hasn't started very many games during his career, but was rated the fourth best OG in run blocking (when he did play).
Offensive line still must be addressed, both with veterans and the draft. Miami needs to stock up on these guys and let them fight it out.
Wilfork? I wouldn't mind Miami grabbing him, but it would have to be a cap friendly deal, which I highly doubt he would take. A BIG man coming off of an achiles is no easy task.
Besides, I read an article where Belichick used this opportunity to be able to hold on to him, coming back at a cheaper rate. How? By waiting to release him until teams that had a need at DT already filled their needs. Boy, that wascally wabbit.

He's young, he came cheap and I've read some decent stuff about him, he certainly wasn't a tier 1 option, but he's either gonna take the next step and shine, or at worst be a solid back up since he's played both RG and LG
