Blocking responsibilities for an H-back/FB are far different than for an inline TE.
He can handle run blocking from the backfield or in motion 10 times a game far better than pass protecting or runblocking from a 3 point stance against a bigger stronger opponent.
Clay is a matchup nightmare in certain situations.
Primarily when you get him covered by a LB. If you have Wallace, Hartline and a TE like Ebron with Clay as the Hback you can get him matched up against an MLB whenever you want from a defenses base set. If they try to stop that lineup with a nickle package you have clay run blocking against a DB in most cases.
