Sam Shields and Alterraun verner are the top CB along with Grimes. We may sign them, younger, over grimes. Won't likely give Grimes more than 2 years

That was my mistake for listing those particular ratings. PFF offers many other variables in various rankings.

Those particular rankings are game by game, basically. They are an accumulation of the season opposed to an average. That is, they are the sum of the season.

For instance, a player like Vontae could have one great game that skews several bad games. In week 7 he had a +7.9 rating. In week 1 he posted the worst game of the season with a -2.4. As you can see, the bad game get's nullified by the great game.

They are also a snap shot of all phases of the game. They are graded in run defense, pass rush, penalties, missed tackles, etc

If you grade them in only coverage, Verner ranks 4th and Grimes ranks much lower. However, Grimes was targeted 59 times compared to Verner's 39 times.

Shields also ranks higher but he did give up 4 tds & a 73 QB rating compared to Grimes 0 and 66 rating.

Latest rumor/media spin cycle....Lots of agent speak trying to create a buzz for their players.

Miami interested in Albert over Monroe.

Miami has interest in resigning Starks, Soliai and Grimes.

Expected to make an offer to Soliai before FA starts.

Will let Starks test market and come back to them to match. (I don't see him giving Miami the option).

I've read several articles speculation that Miami may try and restructure Wallace's deal.

I just don't see the fascination with Albert, especially over Monroe.

Albert is older with a bad back, and would be looking for a good sized paycheck. Monroe is younger, without injury problems (that I am aware of), and would come at a higher price than Albert.

I would take Monroe with his price tag over Albert.

Grimes, to me, is a priority signing, but not for crazy money, since he is now 31 years old. No franchise tag; that would be around $11M, which is dumb if Miami signed him for that.

Soliai and Starks are both good players, but getting up in age and I think Starks is still holding on to some resentment for the beginning of this past season. IMO, Starks would ask for an outrageous amount of money to ensure he walks. If Miami loses both of them, it will be hard to replace them with a rookie, unless a superstar that is guaranteed to be All Pro and a future HOFer is sitting there.

Good luck to Miami attempting to restructure Wallace's deal.

I agree. Philbin must be in love with Albert if we are still pushing for him with a new GM. The guy is not even a good run blocker. He was injured in week 12 and didn't return until the WC game. I hope he signs with Arizona so we don't have to worry about it.

I like the countdown eestismileys with beer
I'm excited for the next two weeks, I think it's gonna show us alot about Hickey's moxie, and the direction of this franchise. Hopefully things start looking up

My only worry is that Philbin will have too much say in personnel choices as he influences Hickey. This will really be a look at how adept JP is in player evaluation. He will have no excuses after this year. Scary!

Hickey will either get Philbin who he wants or piss Philbin off as we have seen.

RESPONSE: Philbin SHOULD have all the say in who Hickey gets in cases of disagreement. Philbin is the cook. He very well can't be expected to make the optimum meal with INGREDIENTS that he does not want or are not in his vision of what he wants the team to do.

It would be unfair to fire Philbin based on that.

However, I say give him what he wants. And if THEN he either does not play them (Dion Jordan, etc.) or mis-using their talents (Tanny) then fire HIS arse (British pronunciation).

DO we know for sure that this is a bad thing? If (and thats a BIG IF) you believe the reports that Philbin wanted to get rid of Incog after the golf outing incident, and he didn't trust Martin so he wanted Albert bad.....maybe JP knows more than we think, I'm not suggesting he gets a pass on last year, but maybe it really was all Ireland?

No way of know until we see who they pick. One thing is for sure. It will be a better scenario than with the GM and HC fighting. The HC refusing to play the GM's picks.

Let's see if the players are better. It is time to find a elite one! It's been far too long and our elite player is aging (Wake).

I have been reading some pretty decent points on Miami and the off season lately. With Grimes in hand I think the best path to take is this....

I'm not too disappointed that we are letting Starks go and letting Soliai test the market. They are too old to sign big deals. Starks will be good for at least two years but will decline rapidly and then be tied up in a big contract...dead money.

I'm also ok letting the rest of our FA's test the market

I think we should concentrate on two premier FA's and then draft two guys in rounds 1 and 2 that can start right away.

If I could sign 2 FA's and draft 2 players (in our top spots) they would be...

FA

Eugene Monroe LT
Geoff Schwartz RG

Draft:

19 Aaron Donald, DT
50 Xavier Su'a-Filo, LG

I move Odrick over to the under tackle spot and let Donald take the 3-technique spot.

I have a rookie LG playing in between two vets in Pouncey and Monroe...

It's just a start.

I really like the contract Grimes and his agent worked out w/ the club. Only a 4 mil cap hit this year. That's great.

Don't know much about draft prospects, but Monroe and Schwartz would be 2 guys in their prime.

We should also take a long look at Pat Sims as an upgrade to Paul Soliai.

Get ready for some rumors and "unconfirmed reports" today....let the games begin

Pick the Draft?@pickthedraft·18 mins
with 2 1/2 hours left until legal tampering starts, what are GM's practicing more -- their sales pitches or spending their owners' money?

And I say those salaries are too high, despite the desperation for Miami. That's why I have said that Miami should go after the second-tier linemen, who can start. I don't need "ONE" superstar on the line...I need five "good" offensive linemen.

I say again, I just don't see the fascination with Albert. Monroe has more going for him, but I still wouldn't pay the big salary. Let another team overpay then hope he plays up to his contract. More often than not, these guys don't even come close to what they were paid.

As they say in the legal system...buyer beware!

Sadly Capt........Ireland ignoring the line for so long is going to force our hand to overpay a bit, the line is in such dire straits, we can't come away empty handed. I say, pick a lane (Albert/Monroe/Veldheer) and go all in at LT, you can maybe wait a few days on the RG/LG and RT, then see what the market bears, but we HAVE to land a top tier LT IMO
