Going back to Brees I wanted him, we got Fletcher. WTH?

I wanted Earl Thomas we got Odrick. WTH?

I did not want Ted Ginn punt returner.

I wanted Nicks who still can be a great player, we got...... no idea.

I wanted Cordelle Patterson this year (Pro Bowl) we got injured DE and gave up a second round pick too. WTH?

I wanted Wilson (Super Bowl winning Qcool smiley we got Wilson Wannabe Tannehill. WTH?

I was rereading over out draft picks this year. They were pretty much injured players. WTH?

4 weeks ago I would have had 2 blank checks one w/ Seattle OC Bevell's name on it as HC. The only condition I would have made was that Mike Munchak was OL coach, the second check.

Here were my wants for our first picks.

2001: Drew Brees
2002: Brian Westbrook
2003: Anquan Boldin
2004: Karlos Dansby
2005: Ronnie Brown...best RB available.
2006: Matt Lienart but he was taken ahead of us so at our spot, Antonio Cromarte.
2007: Brady Quinn
2008: Joe Flacco
2009: James Laurianitis
2010: Demaryius Thomas but he was taken ahead of us so at our spot, Dexter McCluster.
2011: Blaine Gabbert but he was taken ahead of us so at our spot, Mark Ingram.
2012: Ryan Tannehill
2013: Lane Johnson

As it turned out these would not have been too bad...alas.

I wanted Brady Quinn and Ryan Mallet so I'm glad I didn't get the Job. eye rolling smileyGrabbing who we did instead did not help.

My instinct for a QB in the draft was correct. I did kinda question why we didn't go for Aaron Rogers when he fell many moons ago but I'm sure I would have F**ked it up elsewhere. I suck in math and the Cap would have screwed me. LOL.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

everyone passed on brees...

Earl was the top FS and went 14, we had the 28th pick

I don't think anyone did but at the time everyone wanted Quinn (a worst pick)
>

we took vontae davis (1st round) and sean smith (2nd round)... corner was a big need and at the time looked like a great pick up, don't know how they played themselves out of town. Also we picked up Brian hartline in the 4th of that draft and in my opinion has been waaaayyyy more constant.

> I wanted Cordelle Patterson this year (Pro Bowl)

D.jordan has not been on the field so the jury is still out on him. Patterson went at 29 and had low first round value. Although I don't agree with the value thing, if you drafted a late round guy at #3 in the first... you better be right or you will be canned! lol

> I wanted Wilson (Super Bowl winning Qcool smiley we got

Yeah this one I agree on lol... height don't mean anything when you can move... tannehill is the best qb we had since marino but that aint saying anything since we had moe larry and curly back there for the past decade or so... Tanne is a solid qb but not the answer

> I was rereading over out draft picks this year.

Ok, it is easy to be Monday morning qb, all is obvious when you see it unfold... but by any means here is your chance GM... lets hear two guys you would pick who could be around at our draft position. Make it easy and only first and second round, or sleeper if you like...

Your on mr. GM, lets here it!

We had a shot at Earl Thomas who was a need, but stupidly traded down in the draft.

I'll let you know closer to the draft. I have to watch the combine and read the reviews.

you can go back and look at the posts if you really want on who wanted who.

I didnt want Quinn either, but sure not a punt returner.

Would rather have had Nicks then Davis, WR was a need at the time.

I think the point is most of us would not have done worse then what our GM's have done.

I wouldn't take the job if they begged me, that is, if I had to take Philbin/Aponte along with it. Philbin almost guarantees failure to any GM, because it seems talent is not being developed on the field under his leadership. Therefore whatever ceiling a player has won't ever be reached. There could be many reasons for this; his poor selection of assistants, his insistence on being hard headed in player selection on the field, his inability to adjust and adapt to ingame grid strategy...if he can't do it himself, there is no way he can teach it to the guys that need to know how to adapt to situations (the LB's, Safeties, and QB's mostly).

very good point. does not seem like players are getting better. but then again almost everyone that was drafted was injured when they were drafted.

Yeah I didn't want Quinn or ginn either but to be honest that year I didn't know who I wanted... in hind sight P.Willis was probably the obvious choice..

I guess its preference... I liked vontae and to be honest he was an incredible waste of talent... what happened to the guy... I can see sean smith going, he was an over achiever and played above his natural ability.

Vontae Davis rated very high this year according to PFF. He was 3rd behind Brent Grimes and Darrell Revis.

Sean Smith ranked 50th.

We all wanted different people in 2007 but there wasn't a lot to choose from...

We could have had.....

Patrick Willis, Darrell Revis, Marshawn Lynch

Looks like Revis was the best of the available players. The sad part ....Tyler Thigpen was the best QB taken that year so we had no chance of landing one. He was taken in the 7th round!

The all star draft would have been....

1 Darrell Revis
2 Ryan Kalil
3 Marshall Yanda
4 Dashon Goldson (Paul Soliai)
5 No pick
6 Mason Crosby
6 Tyler Thigpen
7 Brandon Fields
7 Jason Snelling
7 Ahmad Bradshaw

RESPONSE: And how do YOU know that the problem is that Philbin REFUSES to put anyone on the field DURING THE REGULAR SEASON unless he is with the first string or the first string guy is injured?

You blame IRELAND for Philbin not playing guys??? You think the GM controls who gets on the field.

If you are saying that these guys ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH, where is your proof?

After Bullygate, the guys on the bench as well as those we signed did pretty good.

No head coach in the world is going to sit "the best player" and risk his job just to "stick it" to the GM. That's just ridiculous.

He sure as hell played Martin when he didn't want to...and to no avail.

If you don't show up in practice, you don't play. Coaches have said this for years. You don't learn the scheme in the off season, you aren't getting reps in the regular season. You make mental mistakes in practice, you don't see the field. It's pretty simple.

Our rookie CB's were simply not better than Patterson, Grimes, Carroll or Wilson.

Vernon played better than Jordan as he was way behind from injury.

Dallas Thomas got a shot because of injury and stunk. he was also injured early on.

What more do you expect from Philbin? For him to waste the regular season training some joker who can't beat out the guy ahead of him? Give me a break. That's what the off season is for!

Another thing is that half the draft class was injured and way behind so that really contributed to them NOT playing.

Charles Clay has gotten more consistant, cant say better
Brian Hartline cant say better either.
John Jerry not at all.
Olivier Vernon, got better shows flashes last year.
Jared Odrick i would say no, 1st round pick and is average player
Chris Clemons is average too.

We drafted a whole lot of injured players last year. It is really amazing. No wonder none of them did anything.

If they heal up it might be an interesting class.

You would have to be blind to say that or have some alterior motive. He jumped from 212/2 to 759/6 in the span of one year and ranked 9th for TE's in yardage.

> Brian Hartline cant say better either.

Plain ignorance here. Hartline two years prior to Joe Philbin: 1,164 yards. 2 years with Joe Philbin 2,099 yards

> John Jerry not at all.

Jerry was benched and only started 3 games the year before Philbin. JP and assistant coaches got him motivated to at least stay in shape and earn a starting spot again.

Duh..

59th ranked DE in 2012 to 13th ranked DT in 2013. Had more sacks than Starks in 2013. 5 sacks from a DT would rank him 6th in the NFL.

> Chris Clemons is average too.

average maybe but better than he was in 2011. Was our most consistent and best safety last year.

I'd be curious to see what the Seahawks' coaching staff could have done with our roster. They have the modern No-Name defense made up of a bunch of lower-round picks.

most players get better over time.

Clay - I saw the ability last year! He wasnt even slated to start this year, but due to injuries he got a chance. You cannot suddenly give a coach credit for a guy he was not even going to play!

Hartline - got more chances, he has not gotten better, he is the same consistant player he always has been.

Jerry played as much this year as last year. They dont want him back!!!

ODrick was a 1st round pick!!! he should be a stud. If he were a 3rd round pick or later your arguement would be valid, it of course is not.

Clemons so not making any plays is good enough for you, then yeah he was great.

Our defense would have been more dominate if we had the Seahawks coaching staff. No more 10 yards off the ball defense.

Looks like the members of the jury, save for a few exceptions have decided Philbin is not what this team needs. I give credit to ChyrenB for first identifying Philbin's drawbacks and the correct diagnosis of
"Philbin Sucks". There may have been others that recognized it as early as CB...but he's the one voice that I remember from the start.

If your still not convinced and since we have lots of lawyers here on the board, I present

exhibit A:

Jills 19 - Philbin's 0

and exhibit B:

Jest 20 - Philosers 7

Early in the season someone asked on here what team they would be a fan of and my reply was the Seahawks because I saw them doing all the right things.

Please don't have me cause I'm brilliant and you are ...... well not
