Not at all ChyrenB - I've been all for giving Philbin another year to see what he can do, especially with a new OC. If the Phins finish 8-8 again then yes, he should go. I think it's only fair to a HC, particularly one that has shown improvement every year, to give him 3 years. Otherwise we risk becoming the Cleveland Browns. I think the message that would be sent by firing him after this season would scare away any quality HC candidate - you only have 2 years (at most) to turn around the franchise, no matter how many holes you need to fill on the roster, and even if the team's record improves each year. The Phins have shown improvement every year under Philbin. Even with the distractions of "bully gate" and the horrendous O-line they still managed 8 wins. They should be able to manage at least 10 wins next season. If we brought in a new HC this year and he won 10 games, you would be ecstatic.

I'm not particularly for or against Philbin. He's done some good things, and he's made some head scratchers. I do think he deserves 1 more year to see what he can do.

I'm not saying your position is irrational or even wrong, only time will tell but as others have said on the board, it becomes a "only one more year and only one more OTHER year" and we miss opportunities in the meantime.

And as far as the turnaround from Sparano, wasn't Sparano HIMSELF the guy who took over after we were like 1-15 and took us to the playoffs on an 11-5???????
