Darren Sharper formerly of many teams, I seem to remember the Packers, and NFL Network analyst has been arrested on two counts of rape occurring at different times.

The NFL Network has suspended him from his Monday show.

What I don't know and would like to know is whether these were date rapes or stranger rapes.

No rape is forgivable but it would be creepy if this guy was committing stranger rapes.

My nephew had no better details but told me that Sharper was known as being an extremely handsome guy to the ladies.

Wow. Either way, guy must be a perv for taking it when there are plenty ladies nowadays willing to give it away for free.

After all, this ain't the Gay 90's (and for you youngsters that refers to the 1890's which even was regarded as stuffy by the generation of the 1920's). And it certainly didn't refer to the same word Gay as we know it.

Well come on, there ARE different types of rape.
There is a consentual rape of a minor.
There is Rothlisberger rape as in not taking "no" for an answer.
The worst is as in lurking in the bushes and pouncing on an unsuspecting victim rape.
All are deplorable but definitely different.

Your post is funny holic. Let me just say that what my nephew said was from the standpoint that it is common to think of rape being committed by guys who can't get it otherwise. Thus the question of why, date rape or otherwise, he would do that.

As far as the decade was concerned, it had just occurred to me that most of the readers on this board were probably born after 1980 and probably had not heard of the Gay 90's and would probably mistakenly believe 1) it referred to the 1990s and 2) it referred to a decade dominated by the emergence of homosexuality.


For myself, I hadn't thought of how the 1890's were considered the "Gay 90s" since LONG BEFORE gay became a word to describe homosexuality. I was just "trippin" on that.

Brian Banks lost his football career due to false rape charges arrest and later release. Jameis Winston had accusations a few months back. Even a known reporter had such issues, can't remember his name. Was it jay Glazer?

2 counts of rape, that is rather bizarre. I thought when I heard rape it was a date rape kind of thing, but then heard 2 counts and was wondering what the heck. maybe he is a serial date rapist.

but yeah it seems odd a guy would rape someone when they could be getting it without any issues.

It applies to people who can't figure out that when the news media releases a statement that someone has been arrested for rape, two counts, one does not AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME it was a stranger rape in THIS DAY AND AGE as opposed to the 1970's and before where date rapes were NEVER prosecuted because once the victim told the police that she voluntarily either went to his room or was in the seat of his car, they would tell her they couldn't prosecute the case.

And just to be clear, to a woman, rape is rape whether by a stranger or by a date. But from a standpoint of danger to women, women can at least try not date a guy who would do such but how does she protect herself from someone who jumps out of the bushes.
