Poll
If Coyle is fired and Rex is available....would ya?
Only registered users are allowed to vote for this poll.

Want the best DC in the game 9

60%
No way in hell I want Rex Ryan anywhere near this team 6

40%

It would be right up Rex's alley to want to stick it to the Jets and stay in the AFC East. Would all of his sloth-ness outweigh the fact that he's arguably the best DC in the game?

I'm not sure where I even stand on making any changes at this point, everyone seems to be calling for Sherman's head but not Coyle's? You could make the argument that they could both go or stay really, Coyle's D seemed to play better last year before the LB swap, so is it his coaching or Irelands players? Either way Rex Ryan would bring immediate legitimacy to this defense, pretty sure it won't happen, just curious to see everyone's thoughts on it?

No way I want any of Rex's drama anywhere need this Team or his Sanchez tattoo. Guy is a moron. Put his starting QB back in the game in the 4th qtr of a pre season game only to lose him for the season. Dipshit award of the Year.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

He wouldn't be HC. As a DC I'd take him OR his brother over what we have now.
AND Kubiak for OC. "Make it so."

I honestly don't think Philbin will fire his guys, but if he did and the Jets clean house, the other OC I wouldn't mind is Marty Morningwig.

If the Jets let Ryan go, he will be scooped up by another team pretty quickly (as a HC).

Hell yes.

Best DC in the game.

I wouldn't want him running my team, but he can run my defense any day.

No thanks, if we did, we would have to go hard on him and cut out his Jets tattoo with a survival knife... I don't think COyle is our main problem, it is the LB play in this system.... They aren't filling the gaps and coming up and making tackles in the run game. And don't cover that well in the pass..... The way we run our system this year, our LB's just aren't getting it done IMO...

Just got back Holic. For the long version, see Crowder's post below. When I say the Def. Coord. ain't the problem, first I don't mean the long term problem.

And as far as this game is concerned, we knew we were dealing with a running tandem of CJ Spiller and Jackson. I can't think of a better one two punch in the NFL.

Secondly, we have been historically weak against the run far moreso than against the pass.

In this case, it was the perfect storm against our defense.

Just like our OFFENSE ran up against the perfect storm of one of the best quarterback sacking def. lines in football against an offensive line that had given up the most sacks.

Now if I'm an offensive coordinator, I run the ball more and/or get rid of it quickly if I am passing.

But if you are the DC, what do you do if you have a pass rushing DL and you play the best lbs you have?

UNLESS......they were leading our linebackers out on pass coverage intending to run all along.

As I posted on the game thread, the Bills UNTRADITIONALLY started out passing, passing, passing and passing....all to sucker us in.

Then when we shifted our attention, they bring on Spiller and Jackson.

Maybe that's why you made the comment about the DC and the yardage.

I never would have drawn my attention away from the run because if you look at Thad, he threw a couple of early long bombs and out of the law of averages, he hit a few. We got scared and started playing the pass.

This question I have for the HC, DC and OC, must you wait until Monday morning to make adjustments?

Simple answer, damn right. When he gets canned he is going to hate the organization and what better place to stick it to them than here in Miami. With him as our DC we would Dominate. Well need new OC too more than anything.

I'd take him as HC over Philbin.

I do not think we will win Sunday. Our coaches are assclowns, and Jets got nothing to lose.

I don't think this is a realistic option. Ryan is a good DC, but his personality would never mesh with Philbin's. Besides, as a former head coach he would be a candidate for the five or six HC openings that are sure to be available or he could take a year off and work for one of the broadcasters, boosting his visibility and asking price. I don't see him taking an assistant's job anywhere.

I might hire his Brother, but he would have to change his last name.

Why would Coyle be fired? It's Sherman who should go, not Coyle!

I agree and the sad thing is that Ross either already signaled that Philbin's job is safe unless he was playing reverse psychology or wanted Philbin to complete out the season without pondering his (Philbin's) own fate.

I agree with this assessment. However, I would take Rex as our DC in a heartbeat. He is the best defensive mind of his generation and no way in hell do you say no to that.

And I think, if Rex didn't get any HC offers, he would absolutely want to be Miami's DC.

1. Chance for payback vs the Jets twice a year
2. He gets to play around with a lot of talent on this defense.

I'd think we would vault into the top 5 defenses with the current talent plus Rex at the helm.

Shit top five more like top three. With Rex we would immediately be playoff bound.

People don't realize just how bad Coyle has been this year. Hes overmatched.

As far as the question, yes.

Rex is the best defensive mind in the game.

If he was our DC, Wake, Vernon, and Jordan would all have 10+sacks.

Coyle sucks, his prevent bs forces our offense to score tds, because we give up so many long drives. Sure we don't give a lot of tds but points none the less.

Coyles bend don't break scheme sucks.

As for Sherman, he wants to be a HC again so it would great if he took another college job.
